The 760/7600 Club

How much louder is that short barrel? My 20" .308 is about as loud as I like to get.

I had a 18" 308 that hurt so much (LOUD) that I could only shoot it with muffs. Could not hunt with it. Then I discovered that different ammo had very differnent noise level. Do not know why, but I suspect it might be fast powdervs, slow powder.

Anyway, if you have a short barrel rifle, try differnt powders or ammo brands to get a load that is not so hard on the ears.

it is 5 rounds for a semi-auto centerfire and no restriction for all others action types , you could have a drum on a bolt gun if you wish, a super duper long tube on a levergun or even a 10 round mag for a pumper if you were so inclined .

if you do a search it has been discussed before. :dancingbanana:

AR mags are only 5 rounds here no matter what they are for so the 7615 is limited to 5 rounds:bangHead::runaway: I gotta say the five round ruleing for the 7615 mags has hurt the 7615 sales potential here .

The 10 round seems to hang a bit low but i would have liked a factory mag that was deeper so as to make inserting and removeing the mag into the firearm less likely to bind and easier to grab. Even a 6 round mag would have solved this issue.

as it stands the stubby rem mags are not the best and i would say the half plastic rem mags are worse then full metal ones

I've owned a 760 carbine in .308 for almost 25 yrs. I personally can't tell any difference whatsoever in the noise levels by using different powders. It's loud all the time, but not so loud that I can't hunt with it.

Just looked at a 7600 Police (.308)... it had the rattle in the forend, and a plastic dustguard that slides with the bolt. I can't imagine the police wanting this version with the 4 round mag and not so fast/positive mag swap that would go with it... the 7615 with the AR style mag does not, funny enough, have a rattle, and has very positive and quick mag insertion/removal. I wonder what gives?

Anyone need a Leupold one piece base? I have one in my parts bin if you want to cover the postage............Red Deer AB..............Harold

I use the 7600 in 30.06. with a 3200 Elite 3-9x40. See-thru rings for quick target aquisition. No rattles, no plastic trigger guard, in fact I've never heard such blasphemy!:)

I've shot mine out to 600yrds. puts out a good group, as good as any bolt, but I guess that was the point of the heavy locking lugs.

mine has no rattles or any of the issues mentioned as a short comeing.

if a person uses that as a reason that they lost game I would bet you that if it were a different rifle and they lost the game the equipment would be at fault and instead of them being honest and admitting an error.

If those ten round mags also fit the semi auto 7400, you are SOL, and they are not legal in Canada... unless pinned to 5. The only mag for the 7615 over 5 rounds is the LAR 15 pistol mag with 10 rounds.

They are specifically designed for 7600 rifle only.

You couldnt even get them into canada if they were for a semi auto as they would have to pass through customs.

Even Numrich's site says they will function in a 7400. Are they marked "760\7600"? I would love to pick up another 7600 for predator protection but if limited to 4 rounds I will grab a guide gun instead.

they are designed specificlly for the 7600 and not the 7400 so it shouldnt be an issue. contact Numerich and the powers that be to get clarification on magazines made specifically for the 7600 .

the guide gun only holds four rounds in a tube magazine anyway so you are not loseing anything with a factory rem magazine.

even if you have a 4 round mag the 7600s are really fast to change out anyways . I am actually thinking of getting a 4 round factory mag as a spare

I realize the capacities are the same, "stopping power" (ugh) is not though. I already had a 7600 in .35, damn do I ever regret selling it. Thinking of an -06 this time around. I figure 10 220gr bullets at 2500fps(+?) would be more than enough.
