2 Days ago one member here contacted me with an idea to make a clone of a type81 lmg , looked at that i says that was possible to draw it , yesterday i worked on that ,
i Think we have something very close , the front lower hand guard is from a vz , the pistol grip , stock and rear trunnion are AK parts , to fits all those part i have an adapter for the pistol grip , and one to hold the handgaurd of the vz because they are wider than the sks one i may have to work a little more on this one , this adapter demand to remove the cleaning rod and bolt it or put a rivet to fix it

we would like to crowd-source this project , i dont know if we have to ask for special authorization from the mod or admin ?

To do a short run of those and reduce cost and testing , price depend on the materiel , we still have a couple of choice but that still between cnc machined or 3d printed , for the 3dprinting more piece we have, cheaper it is

that a drop-in kit , every people that will see it will think that you have an AK or a variant , I think that probably harder to do something better than this in 8 hour of thinking and drawing ,

Because we use a AK rear trunnion for the stock that mean that most every Ak stock will fit , side folding , and probably the under folder too , Now you will ask were we can find those parts , Numrich have most of those parts , or find any shop south that can ship north

Using the VZ handgaurd mean that you can put a wood one to a tactical one with some rails , a lot of combination to created your style

Now the picture :

The model i used to draw :

So you are going to make a chassis thay sits around the frame of the rifle??

I like the idea, hope it all comes about. Then maybe I will get an SKS and my Valmets will take the backseat for a bit, lol.

Is the original something we can bring in or prohib? I like the looks of the clone :)

Yes. Metal stock that the SKS receiver drops into. Metal stock with wood hand guards and wood butt stock. Or whatever one desires that is made for the vz in the way of handguards, or in the ak market for butt stocks. The thought was to make the SKS LMG that could have been but never was. Not an RPK, or an RPD, but something like the Type 81 which shares a lot with the SKS I terms of looks and some function.

A more traditional look than tactical. Wood and metal.

The type 81 is currently before the lab awaiting classification. There is an frt that says it is a ak variant, however that is t totally accurate. The thought is that theft was assigned to the gun without an actual inspection. There are plenty of threads on that, this thread is not for those debates.

Props to Dad003 for his work on this. I simply asked what he thought about making a stock for the SKS that would resemble a Type 81 LMG, and he ran with it. While I generally like my SKS carbines to be original, this I find interesting.

This is absolutely one of the coolest things I've seen yet for the SKS! I've dreaming of something like this for a while. I've sent emails to various SKS accessories MFG's e.g. ATI, Archangel etc. but no response. This is what I want, a "REALL METAL" feel for an SKS accessory. I remember a time when a plastic stock on a rifle meant it was the discount base model or the cheap version. My old man used to call this age as the, "plastic epoch".

looks great , fantastic idea if you wanna bring the wrong kind of ATTENTION to the SKS. Things are so HOT right now with all this RE-Classification to Prohib. Anything that even remotely looks like a AK47 is going to bring trouble.
Great idea..just not right now. I want my SKS to look as Boaring as possible right now.

Watch out for the weight guys, see my mod, only a "lower" stock in aluminum and it did add some serious weight the the firearm.

Please keep the tinfoil out of this thread. If you don't understand how or why firearms can be reclassified under the current firearms act, please don't cause excitement with "if it looks scary" rhetoric.

A stock will not make a firearm prohib, unless of course it is a bullpup stock.

who does like to make the libtard #### in they pants at the vision of my beautiful work ?

For the weight i can put as thin to 1/8 of wall for the receiver area that will be light weight

unfortunatly the cz and swiss problem is probally where people are spending most there time right now. I personally can't wait for your version to be made. I actually started making one few months back after seeing soldner's version. He's right about the weight. My bottom receiver is pretty close to 1/8 steel, it puts a ton of weight on it. I thought it's going to be too heavy that way, so I was thinking maybe gauge steel or aluminum to drop weight.
