The all new Famae flat top.

I broke down... I'm weak.

Now I have the Tavor 7 coming and a 540

Don't feel bad, that's awesome. I have been wanting a Famae for some time now but resolved not to buy anymore guns as I have plenty black rifles some I have yet to shoot in the collection( red flag, lol). So what do I do. I pretend I have a budget and just picked up a SKS-M instead. Not the same but it might delay my itch for the Famae until TI sells out, probably not, lol.

What made you choose the tavor 7 over the Famae SG 542 flat top version, as the tavor 7 also does not have iron sights?

I can add them to a Tavor, there's enough full length rail. Planning to have offset 45 degrees iron sights + LPVO setup. Also, magazines are three times cheaper and I can run 10 round pistol mags in a Tavor. Last but not least, there are aftermarket parts available for customization if I decide to go that route. I consider them comparable in accuracy and reliability departments, so that's a draw. I had original 542 that I had to sell, it was 3-4 MOA gun, so Tavor is capable of at least that if not better.

Hey, would you prefer the SG 542 or the tavor 7, and why?

I've owned both of those rifles in the past. I could not shoot the Tavor 7 accurately, despite owning (and quite liking) the X95 in 5.56mm. I found the bigger Tavor to be very "bouncy" under recoil, with plenty of muzzle-jump. I just could not get the Tavor 7 to settle down, so I eventually gave up on it. In terms of the SG 542, the ergonomics were great, but the 3-4 MOA grouping accuracy left much to be desired. I am optimistic that a different muzzle device may make a positive difference to the accuracy, hence my request above for the confirmed muzzle thread size. Otherwise, aside from voodoo magic I am at a loss for ideas to improve the practical accuracy of the SG 542....

I can add sights to the Tavor and mags are cheaper - I have lots anyways.

I picked up the 540 because it was a bit cheaper then the 542 and I’ve got a lot more 5.56 then .308.

It was close tho, between the 540 and 542.

At the end of the day I didn’t want the Famae system for any practical reason, I just wanted it. Getting the 540 and two extra mags scratches the itch.

I’ve got the arguably more robust Tavor 7 to use an abuse.

My property is well wooded and undulating, making 100+ yard shots nearly impossible. Minute of coyote is just fine.

Hey Tactical Imports,

You might want to have a word with your Shipping Department. An extra layer of Cardboard at the Muzzle end might do the trick. This is what greeted me at the Post Office this evening. EVERYONE PRETY MUCH KNEW WHAT MY PACKAGE CONTAINED......

Frankly, I'm surprised that the contents didn't disappear somewhere enroute!

Picked up my 542 today luckily it wasn't poking out, the 2 mags stacked on top were holding it pretty well. that being said for nearly 4 grand for a thing to come packaged like this is frustrating to say the least.

How the heck did you guys get yours already? I ordered one right away and I don’t even have notifications that it’s even been shipped!!
