The all new Famae flat top.

1. Is there no possible weld if it's 2 different metals?

2. Is there a possible foregrip attachement for the 542?

1. Not by mere mortals.

2. Yes, ERE manufactures a Picatinny Rail that mounts in either of the 2 holes on the underside of the Handguard. The only downside of this system is that those Handguard holes are pretty far forward, resulting in a stretched-out Support Arm. It puts the picatinny rail too far forwards for my comfort, but YMMV.

I picked up one of the ere handguard rails from csc about a week ago when they posted it up on cgn and i found that if you use the hole closest to you it works well for a vertical grip but I'm a pretty tall fellow so it may be different for others

Mortals can use laser to weld dissimilar metals among other methods. Educate yourself.

My abject apologies - I am not a welder by trade nor inclination. That said, when is the last time YOU trained indigenous forces to conduct a dismounted Company Group Advance to Contact and Hasty Attack while under enemy fire? Educate yourself.

Being a non combat trade I definitely never received as much of that kind of training as I would have liked and man am I really starting to miss the army.

My 540 looks the same except on the opposite side as your 542. These are stamped receivers with loose tolerances, not sure what you were expecting.

I had to work pretty hard to see it. Maybe it’s worse in person?

It looks like the charging handle side of the upper is bent out about the width of the sheet metal.

Mine isn’t identical from side to side, but it’s very close - maybe 1/2 - 1/4 like that. Mine isn’t a full mm out.

Actually, I’ll grab my caliper. - .14mm upper receiver is proud of the lower on left. .73mm upper receiver is proud on charging handle side. Sounds bad but it looks fine.

Do you have the El’ floppy’ hand-guards?

I like my Famae but it’s not a $3,400 rifle. It’s the price we pay to play tho.

Take it out and shoot it.

Most of the $$$ can be considered as crownland tax I assume, not bad for a mag feed modern NR nowadays.

I recently saw a used Armalite 180B for 4K.

I used to have one and I didn’t think it was a $900 rifle - sold it.

I’d much rather have the Famae then my old 180B back.

Well my 542 arrived today after a 2 week wait on upgraded packaging,,, and I was shorted 3 mags..... I sent them a msg asking them to be sent out asap see what they have to say
