The Battle Rifle Pictures Thread

You painted those yourself? Wow.

So umm... how much? ;)

I painted rifles as a side business in early to mid 2000..............I no longer do this due to the time involved that kept me away from my family, and the fact that everyone and their dog is doing it these days.......

As to price, with dis-assembly, paint prep, actual painting, and re-assembly for a rifle with scope in digital camo, I charged roughly $400.00 to $500.00.................

Here are a few more pics.......

First, get gun your finalized with the scopes/rails/accessories you like.
I removed the scope and sprayed down my gun and stock with brake cleaner to remove any oils that could inhibit paint adhesion, then i reattached my scope. (wasnt sure about brake cleaner on scope lens coatings)

Add painters tape and trim to shape to protect absolutely everything you do not want to get paint on. Then hang the gun and spray multiple thin coats with drying time to avoid paint drip streaks.

Add painters tape on top of the base coat to create a breakup pattern of whatever shapes you are going to add next.

I used wax paper folded lengthwise about 4 times to multiply my pattern cutouts. then i laid the opened up wax paper stencil over the rifle and sprayed.

Let it dry thoroughly cause the paint can peel when removing the tape if it is not fully set.

Remove the breakup pattern layers of tape, but leave the tape to protect your vital "paint free parts" and spray the entire paint job with matte protective finish

Let it dry again, then remove the initial protective layers of tape and enjoy :)

3 coathangers and a ceiling hook and cardboard "painting booth setup" to protect my garage floor and nearby items
brake cleaner $8
Painters tape $3
2 cans of spray paint and a can of matte clear protective finish $15

Initial protective taping time = 1 hours
Breakup pattern taping time = 2 hours
cutting out my stencil pattern = 1 hour
total spraying time all together = 15 minutes
multiple drying times all together = 5 hours and overnight for final drying

what frontend rail is that?

Ultimak M8... I Like that it is no higher than the Handguard. If I take the scope off with my quick detach rings, i can still use the irons. I ordered it from Brownells and had to pay customs fees. M14.ca later came out with similar rails which i think would be the same or potentially better.

Thanks for reply, that's what I thought, looks same as for Mini 14

Awesome post Nyksta... That in itself should be a sticky  and nice job!!

Agreed
