The Battle Rifle Pictures Thread

It's been awhile since I weighed it, but it was around 13 or 14 pounds loaded. Once you get used to the weight its not bad though. I used it for moose and deer last season and was lugging it around for 6-10 km hikes everyday for about 2 weeks.

Get some funny looks for other hunters though. Had one guy ask if it was illegal to hunt with an AK-47. Told him it was illegal to hunt with an AK, but thankfully not with my M-14.

So, I have a new one to add to my list of 1903 Springfields

Nope, it is an original Springfield Armory 1922 built, 1903A1 Springfield that I picked up. Unfortunately, someone had already dicked with it, so I had no issues hanging the Leatherwood Hi-Lux (Modern) copy of the 8x Unertl on it. Personally I have no interest in getting anything from James River, as this is my third 1903 Springfield (A Remington 1903A4, and a 1907 built Springfield Armory 1903 Springfield that saw service with the USMC during WW2), and if you look back at my first post on this topic, I also have three M1 Garands, two of which are sniper variants.

And it does this :) Tried out some new loads today 160 gr FTX ? with low loads off H4895.
1 is 32 gr and is nice and tight I swear on my dogs life there are 5 holes in that group
2 is 30 gr and again 5 holes
3 Is Rem 150 Corelokt. ( I needed some new brass ) The first round was about 12 inches low and the other four are good and tight.

The sad thing is they are all at 50 yds :( A family turned up and sort of took over before I could get out to 100yds.....another day :)
Gotta love this handloading :) Couldnt find any data for the 160s so I played safe and went for really soft loads. Seems to work.

And THIS is why I buy American.

Having difficulty posting photo of exploded Norinco. The SA that self destructed was attributed to ammunition. I think Ardent has a right to his opinion which I share. You generally get what you pay for. Some very cool looking rifles. really like the M14 with OD green furniture.
