The CANADIAN Ruger Gunsight Scout Discussion Thread

I don't know for sure, but the PRW and QRW should be the same height

Looks like it’s going to be a med ring with the 32mm optic, the mock up med rings I used we’re enough to clear the front bell. Although the here wasn’t much room for a scope cover, was tight. Hope the qrw is a touch taller than the med Burris zee ring.

I tried a 40mm and they’ll need a high for sure to clear the front bell.

I've gone around the block testing out different rifle setups and nothing has come close to the love I had for my stainless 16" barreled 308 Ruger Scout. I had to sell it to help pay off my student loans so we could buy a house and I haven't seen one available since.

I'll keep my eye out though. I need that rifle in my life again.

Holy. This thread even is a sticky.

I got a .308 one years ago. Pretty happy with it. Got the pistol both eyes open sites. Glad there is love for one of my favourite guns

Thought Id bump this, Prophet River has 3 lipseys walnut gunsite 308's in stock, I just bumped my order up to one of these and waiting shipping, these are the only ones that have been in Canada for years

The walnut stock sure looks good, would prefer a black receiver and barrel.

Can’t get over the price increase on these… but what hasn’t gone up in 10 years.

Been shooting the GSR 308 a bit lately. Off the bench I can put six rounds into about 2moa with the 2.5x Leupold. Ammo is Hornady 168gr ELD Match factory which does 2550 fps from the 18.7" barrel

Yeah it's a McMillan Mark II Classic, now discontinued unfortunately. I didn't shoot the rifle a lot with a scope when I had the laminate stock on the 308

Gotcha, couldn’t remember the maker. So did it improve accuracy much or at all from the factory laminate?

I’m getting 1” groups at 100m with commercial .308 sp with the laminate stock, letting the barrel fully cool while sighting in. Things open up a bit by shot 4 & 5 once the barrel warms up.

When I had the laminate on the rifle, I had no scope. When I got the McMillan, I switched to an optic. Accuracy has improved since getting a scope , McMillan probably doesn't have much to do with it. I do like the stock

That’s what I thought might be the case, I can’t complain with the results I get from factory cup and core ammo and the laminate stock. Don’t fix what isn’t broken is the best way to go sometimes.
