The CANADIAN Ruger Gunsight Scout Discussion Thread

What’s everyone using for a optic on their Ruger Scouts, I’m looking to swap what I have on my .308 onto a different rifle and am undecided on what to use.

Currently have a Nikon 2-7x32 with a bdc reticle, I like the size and mag range. Have hunted with it for the last 2-3 years, thinking 2-10 might be nice. Would like a reticle that’s not cluttered but a couple hash marks would be nice for hold over reference.

Not in a rush as the current setup is zeroed and I’m not looking to swap anything till after hunting season.

So even with a 20% discount promo from XS’s sight it was still more expensive than ordering from Amazon Canada, between exchange rates and shipping it wasn’t worth it. So I sucked it up and ordered it from Amazon, at least they had a bit of a discount and free shipping.
 
Wow! I'm going to have to dig up my receipt but I know mine didn't come close to the Amazon price even with the exchange rate and shipping.
Anyhow, they're a great sight. It should do you well.

I have a 3X32 Nikon Tactical on mine. Nice and compact. I like it but a variable would be handy in some cases.
Been considering a Leupold Mk 4HD 2.5X42 Iluminated.

Is what it is, have one on my .308 and it’s great. Just picked up another Scout and don’t want to go with a scout scope on it as well, sometimes you gotta pay to play.

I think I’m going to swap a couple existing scopes around and see how I like them on the Ruger’s, I’m tempted to try a 2-12x42 Athlon. Although Primary Arms has a couple 1-6x24 or 1-10x24 options that look interesting, I’m already set up for 1” tubes and would have to buy 30mm rings on top of scopes.

Been looking at Vortex and Burris as well, both have a reticle that I’m looking for. Just can’t find anywhere local that has either, would like to look through a couple first. Vortex has never wowed me in the glass dept.

It didn't work for me either, which is why I went with the low magnification Nikon.
