After owning my GSR for 2 years I finally got tired of the rough sloppy bolt and returned it to Snap Shots for warranty. It also had some other poorly finished areas with burrs that needed work. I had read that this was a typical problem in the Scout and just thought mine was the same until I acquired a like new Frontier. I realize they are different but based on the same action. The Frontiers bolt was just so much better. No sloppy play or binding. That is what made me decide to return the GSR. Yesterday I opened my e mail and was pleased to find a message from Snap Shot telling me that Ruger is replacing my rifle. The reason for this is, after polishing the raceways the bolt still runs rough. They feel that the bolt is "too small" thus allowing it to bind. I am happy with Snap Shots service and that Ruger is replacing my rifle. I consider myself a Ruger fan, having 10 different rifles, revolvers and shotguns. Some have been purchased new and some used. Out of ten this is the third to go back for warranty and I still have a Single Ten with tight cylinders to be returned. Overall not impressed.
Almost makes you think they've decided they get better PR for replacing defective merchandise than if they don't let it out the factory door in the first place! Or at least just cheaper than pre-ship inspection. Not encouraging either way.
