I can't recall if it was here on CGN or AO but there was a thread from a few years back on the same issue so I am not the only person to encounter the problem.
My bush rifle most of the time is a 22”kimber .338 federal or 35 Whelen. I could go shorter on the .338 federal but I find the gun so light and maneuverable as it is that I won’t change it.
CZ600 Alpha short action, 223 or 7.62x39. With hand loads, my 7.62x39 groups at 0.75” at 100 yards. I put a cheap Bushnell Banner scope on it, 4-12x44. Light and easy to swing around. The 7.62x39 comes with a 20” barrel.
