The filthiest .22 ammo: Who makes it?

Another vote for Remington. Golden bullets are pretty bad. I've fired them trough my ruger MKII and always end up projecting a black cloud of filth downrange with each shot. Remington is junk in my books, I almost exclusively use American Eagle 40gr. RN.

Remington. And if you run out of Remington, get more Remington. :) Only problem might be that if Remgington see a spike in their ammo sales due to your torture testing, they may never stop making it. :p

I read the title "dirtiest 22 ammo" and without reading a single post was going to reply "Anything Remington." Yellowjackt was the buzzword when I was a teenager, but now I won't buy anything Remmy when it comes to 22 ammo.

Remington gets the nod these days. In the early 90's some buddies and I went to Alberta
on a gopher massacre mission and we used Yellow Jackets exclusively in our .22's.
I had a 10/22 and the other guys used CZ 452's. We had no problems at all with
fouling and accuracy was great.
I'm betting that Remmy is now having it's rimfire ammo made in Mexico.

The dirtest .22 ammo I ever used was Nitron, a Polish brand that was available in
the 70's & 80's. Heavily waxed bullets and powder that fouled up actions quicker
that snot.

Tbolts are bad, but I put them #3 for what I just shot. #2 was PG from Yugoslavia. And the #1 winner by a lot was Junior from Russia. They are the ones with the heavy BLACK wax coating. They also shoot minute of pie plate at 50 yds.

I have never had an issue with Remington subsonics.
They were actually very accurate in my cz and expended well on gophers.
Just a little pricey lately. No, I haven't tried the latest batches, I'm working off old stock.

I would have to agree on the trend here. Went on a camping trip and stopped in at WSS. All they had was Remington. Figured what the heck, give it a try, never used it before but how bad could it be. 1 in 20 I would say was a dud, not many FTE, cause when you think about it's really hard to get a FTE if it don't go bang first.

I love my remington .22's in my BL-22 and my Savage 64.

I must be crazy. they seem to be the only buly .22's that have a good lead casting and actually don't jam up when feeding.

I vote Federal for Dirtiest I have fired.
