The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

I've been thinking about a PCC and was leaning towards a .45 since my goal is subsonic just for noise reasons. I had a look at an FX9 at Dominion Outdoors the other day and liked how it felt. It seems like I can run 147's and make them subsonic, does anyone have experience in this area? What do factory loads chrono? How is reliability and accuracy?

Been shooting mine on friday and today. It started FTE after a while. But only sometimes. Not after every shot. Is there a way to fix the issue without sending the bolt back to Freedom Ordnance?

I'm still observing my rifle's performance. First range day, I only had 2/150 FTE issues. Second range day was 15-20/150rds. I cleaned the rifle and left it wet for my subsequent range day and got 3/150. Going again this week to see if it improves, otherwise I'm doing the bolt mod.

Has anyone run aluminum cased ammo thru their FX9 , I know they recommend you don't, but no explanation why

Here is an idea in this thread

I shot blaser brass 124 and 147 from mine got average of 1290 with the 124 and 1180 with the 147 the 147 shot significantly better then the 124 but i wasnt using a scope just a red dot with bad eyes at 50 yards i have a scope on it now to test but have not had a chance to shoot it. i wanted to reload some 124 and see if i could find a sweet spot for those

i went and did the mod. 100% no failiure after 350rd and even with aluminum cases

The explanation is because it's crap that should never have been manufactured.
People buy it to save $5 then realize it is unreliable in most guns, and dangerous in others.

I was getting the odd failure with mine, did the bolt mod and haven't had a failure since.
The only advice I would give is to run at least 500 rounds through your rifle first, then if it's still having issues do the bolt mod.
Also make sure that it isn't a magazine issue, if your failures are always with the same magazine then the bolt mod won't help.

The only magazine I've ever had an issue with is a 10 round Glock factory mag. All others have worked fine. I think that one mag has a weak spring or something because it's the only one that is not reliable out of more than 10 G17 mags I own.

I have a few FTE problems too. What is the bolt mod??? Sorry if it was mentioned earlier.

147 Subsonic loads with Titegroup are very quiet, just a bit louder than 22 LR. I found Atlanta Arms 147 subs too be very quiet to BTW.

The bolt mod on one of the earlier pages . Essentially , take off the ejector and file off the corner of the bolt that’s generally covered by the ejector at 45 degrees ish

Could someone please tell me what thread-size Reverse Style fake Suppressor from Truth North Arms fits on the FX-9?

Also maybe what one fits on an AR15 5.56 barrel as well ;)

"Threaded for 1/2 x 28 muzzle devices" - same as AR15, however the 9mm obviously won't fit through an AR15 5.56/.223 muzzle device... Suggest you reach out to TNA and ask them what might fit a 9mm PCC

The 1/2 x 28 reverse cans work on the FX9. They sleeve over the barrel, so calibre doesn't really matter. Even the ones with the brake work.

An observation about my FX-9, Shot flawlessly until I purchased 2 Spare SGM magazines. This is where the problems started (ftl fte) Eventually I discovered that the ftl issues were cause by the feed lips on the mags all being different sizes. A set of Calipers and a Channel lock and the ftl went away completely. I still noticed the odd fte, i disassembled all of the mags and learned the first mag was pinned under tension from the bottom, and the two new ones were under tension from the top (making the spring weaker and the bolt hold open not working). After this, everything is running perfectly.
When I was describing my issues to FO to try to find a remedy they told me I may need a bolt update of some sort, this doesn’t seem to be the case for now.

I bought 6 sgm 10/33 mags and all have run flawlessly.
