The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

Mine is a jam-o-matic . It double feeds or failure to eject and then double feeds almost every round . I can’t figure it out

As mentioned, contact Wolverine about the bolt modification. Mine would fte on a regular basis so I sent to Wolverine under warranty. I just had the first fte since it got back from warranty work, went over 1200 rounds before it happened.

Held one in a shop today. Build quality and balance felt decent. I like the controls except..
Quality, travel and play in the charging handle. Ugh. Action pulls so gritty and has a lot of loose slop

Got some new bits and pieces for my 8" FX-9 so it was time for some new pics...!

Magpul AFG-2
Magpul MBUS Pro BUIS
Magpul RSA QD Rail Sling Attachment
Larue IndexClips
Holosun HS510C
Freedom Ordinance FX-9 Enhanced Charging Handle
Timber Creek Outdoors QD Endplate
Timber Creek Outdoors Buffer Tube
Timber Creek Outdoors Ambi SS Ambidextrous Safety
Fab Defence GL-Core S Stock
Hogue Soft Overmolded Grip
Techwell USA PCC Magwell (photoshopped the logo in red in the second pic...)
Elite Tactical Systems ETS Glock 17 Magazine Clear/Red (in the second pic - purchased from "the vendor that shall not be named on CGN")
"Unfair Advantage" Magazine Baseplate (red and black)
Some no-name red trigger guard I got on ebay...

Internals are stock - I prefer a heavier trigger pull and the OEM trigger gives me that, and I've never had issues with the buffer or spring (as some have noted previously).

The 8" barrel FX-9 was imported by IRUNGUNS - came with the US "Pistol" stock and tube.

I have done the super easy bolt mod and it has been 100% since then...not one FTE. I shoot IDPA PCC division with this and it is fun and fast!!!

Installed the CMC PCC flat blade drop-in trigger, and took to the range today. It works great! Installation was simple, and I never experienced any unexpected bump fire. Overall I highly recommend the trigger upgrade to anyone on the fence about it.

Overall this rifle has been great for me. It has never failed to feed, and take down is quick and easy.

I have used glock 17 OEM mags, Korean pined 10/30 mags and plastic non name mags....they all work great except the Korean pinned mag is slight too wide for the mag well and requires some sanding to slide in and out without some rocking. Otherwise I have never had so much as a jam....I have also fired nothing but Aluminum ammo in my FX-9 which the manual specifically says not to.....not sure why it works fine. My rifle is completely stock except for a $0.25 O-ring on the front part of the upper which attaches to the receiver to take away the upper/lower wobble.

Would really appreciate some more info and a picture of how you did this. The play between upper and lower is annoying me.

Just bought got a used one and put about 10 mags through it with no issues and a few different types of ammo. No issues BUT holy sproing coming out of that buffer tube. How do I fix that? Even my kids said it sounded weird. And why are glock mags prices like unobtainium?

I rarely use Glock OEM mags in mine; I prefer the Magpul 10 round mags to the Glock 10 round mags (which don’t always lock the bolt open when they are empty...). I also use ETS mags (pinned) with no problem. Ironically the Glock OEM mags are the least reliable of the purpose designed 10 round mags IMO...

Have a couple thousand rounds through my FX-9. Added a few extras

- Gamma muzzle break
- Rise Armament Flat Super Sporting Trigger
- Strike flat wire buffer spring
- Odin Works 9mm adjustable buffer
- Egro grip
- Vortex Strikefire Red Dot

Target is 25 meters with red dot. 130gr Cast powder coated 5 shots. SWEET 3.5 pound trigger. Shoots like a dream. Using Mag Pull mags.

Would you please let me know the amount of weight or which weights are you running in your Odin buffer?

Thanks!

Been shooting mine on friday and today. It started FTE after a while. But only sometimes. Not after every shot. Is there a way to fix the issue without sending the bolt back to Freedom Ordnance?

The “bolt mod” is really easy; it’s just filing a slight ramp under the extractor. There is a link to a vid earlier in this thread somewhere. It’s super simple - remove the firing pin and the extractor and file a small ramp to allow the extracted casing to rotate out on ejection a little easier. I’m 100% since I did it. If you’re not comfortable doing it Wolverine (the importer) is apparently offering to do it for Canadian owners...

I couldn't find anyone selling them with the upgraded CH. They are all selling for $1149. Cheapest I've seen recently was Wanstalls back on Black Friday (or maybe it was Boxing Day)... They were $997 (or maybe it was $979).

I’m interested in picking one of these up.

Anyone selling them with the upgraded charging handle?

Best price around on these?

Thanks all

Did the bolt mod myself , took it to the range today and it ran 80 flawless round . 4x out of glock 19 mags , 2x out of a pmag and 2x out smg or whatever it’s called mag . Not a single hiccup , considering I rarely got 2 rounds out one after the other . Also like stated in earlier posts , the glock mags usually won’t hold the bolt open , the other 2 do
