The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

My FX9 on a deer hunt this week. Extensive load development with 124 grain Hornady XTP.

Have it grouping at 1.2 inches @ 100 yards.
But no deer to test it on.
Before anyone jumps all over me for using a 9mm for deer, my shot is limited to 85 yards, and if treated like a bow, and only take high percentage broadside or quartering away shots, this gun should be capable of ethical kills.

I thought I would be able to.post a pic through google drive but no luck.

Make sure you check your local hunting regulations, you may need to pin a magazine to 5 rounds if you're hunting with it.
I had the same idea for my 45acp Vector, now that I sold that I made up some 124xtp loads and pinned one mag to 5 for use in my 9mm Vector and FX-9 just in case I didn't feel like using my 7 mag one day. Just had surgery though so my hunting season is a write-off this year. Hopefully next year I'll be able to get out in the bush.

Buy a paid membership, I can post pics right off my cell phone with no picture host site.

I just bought one of these fx9s and while doing the first clean and lube before I take it to the range I noticed the buffer tube castle nut is loose. I don’t have a tool for this so is there a trick to tighten this and I guess use lock tight or stake it?? I didn’t see anyone else with this issue out of the box.

Read this whole thread and I can't clearly figure out if a regular 9mm AR barrel will install into the FX-9 upper. Anyone?

Cheers
Moe

Mine seems to have A LOT of play in the front lower take down pin..... Anyone else have this issuse with their FX9?? There is a noticeable rock between the upper and lower when all pins are in and its definitely more so the front lower pin. Removing the rear take down pin and allowing it to pivot on the front lower pin, I can move the lower about an inch back and forth - so there is some serious play in that bored hole on the Upper. I don't like this at all and I'm probably going to take the rifle back and see about a replacement. My Oracle is way cheaper and has far less play - even after 1500 rounds.

Will this shake cause reliability issues? I know I can get mag wedges but a brand new rifle I don't feel I should need to..

Put in some JP Enterprise 3.5# trigger springs, works nice. Have to use federal primers now instead if cci due to some light strikes. No issues now
