The GSG 16 modification thread

Just got mine, bolted on some parts I had.

Hope to get out this week.

Removed the lower plastic rail, and the side rails, replaced with M-LOK metal side rails.

I like it but wish it had more metal like our STG 44/22, still feels good, gawd I miss the MP5!

Where did you source the mag coupler and vertical grip?

Any airsoft mp5 pins will fit, got mine from airsoft depot. Ca.

For people that are wondering, the following sites are trust worthy and reliable.

Www.shootercbgear dot com
Www.px-airsoft dotcom
Www. Wgcshop dot com

Search mp5 on any of those sites and the sky is the limit, or in this case, your bank account

So what you are saying is that if I want to put on the traditional solid MP5 stock on my gun, it will be a direct fit? or will there need to be modification to it or the gun to get the proper fit? if there's modding needed for fit, is it hard or a lot of work?

As much as I like the collapsible stock on my gsg16, I find it kind of useless other than for a shorter carry bag.

The stocks do push into the frame. The sliding rails do need to be cut to fit the frame, found the metal rails very tight and difficult to adjust.

Just got my rifle last night!

Added a vertical grip / flashlight I had laying around and a cheapo RioRand red dot. ($37 off Amazon)
Just started... Looking for more tacticool goodies to throw at it...

The airsoft fixed stock, i have no idea as mine was a norinco mp5 stock. The nork stock took minimal amount of trimming to fit.

More details on this build please!

Essentially incorporated the parts (front cocking tube/sight, cocking handle, eye bolt, mag release catch, receiver void fill, lower) from the GSG 5-522 conversion kit (ebay) with a scavenged rear diopter sight, shroud, push pins and metal rear stock from an old airsoft one. The front hand guard was from a CGN member who sells printed ones on EE with some functional hand guard pins molded in to a built up plastic epoxy base.

The front eye bolt was drilled an epoxied in, all rails removed and the receiver sanded down to round, and some plastic epoxy built up to fill in some of the gaps. Some material for the receiver rail base had to be removed to make the receiver cap fit, but i believe that the receiver molds were based on the GSG-522 so the rail guides were still there so it made that easier.

The rear sight base was sanded down from the existing rail base. There was a cross bolt on added through a hole in the front sight to stabilize the fore grip. Aside from that it was just build up under the new metal low-profile rail so the clamp had material to bite onto and it was mostly done. Took about a full day to figure it all out. Its just plastic after all so you just have to have a sufficient disregard for potential willful damage to the receiver and to perhaps destroying the end result/resale value of the gun :d

If you use a sliding stock you'll have to trim it by the ejection port so I'm waiting on a full stock and 9" barrel so I haven't altered in that area... yet ;).

At this point just deciding on if I want to go with a full rear stock over the extended one which would require some easy surgery and some tubing to finish the shroud... and probably a rotary mag :)

The pictogram stickers are available on Redbubble.

CYMA Fixed stock will fit, but you need to grind a little bit off.

The light grey area is what needs to be trimmed. I recommend you coat it in armor all if you are wanting to get it off easier.

Oh wow, even sanded down the receiver to round it. It's a bit hard to tell as those pics are blurry and watermarked to me for some reason but looks awesome. Impressive stuff!

Damn. Thats ###y. Yup. I'm going full stock. Can I ask where you picked yous up?

Also, When you say you had to grind a bit off. Are you refering to grinding a bit off the stock, or then gun itself?

I'm guessing the screws from the GSG16 stock go right back into the new full stock??

Hero Outdoors, took like a month to get. I haven't grounded off anything yet. But you would just need to mod the stock.
