The GSG 16 modification thread

The metal tube is a real enhancement, rear sight maybe a bit low after the install, good call on using an Importer.

Thanks for letting me know the rear sight might be a little low after I swap out the cocking tube. I thought it was for the best using an importer for it after it took over 2 months to get some buffer springs cleared by CBSA that I got from Brownells, plus there's less chance of the cocking tube being seized using an importer. Do you know if the inside of the metal tube is threaded to accept the factory gsg9 flash hider?

I plan to get it through CBSA by using a licensed exporter and importer. I didn't order it from apexgunparts, cgn censors the importer/exporter that I used.

Be Very Careful!!!
I used Prophet River and had my order seized. There is nothing they can do if the part is seized by CBSA and since the part is listed as from a GSG5 and not GSG16 it is listed to be seized. I lost $1000 in GSG522 conversion kits seized by the CBSA. They are now blocking any parts specifically for the GSG5 even though those kits were sold in Canada by Irunguns and others.

GSG 5s are Prohib in Canada

No it is not but may be big enough to have it slide in. There is a allen bolt at the bottom of the front sight post that is used to hold the fake silencer and that could also be used to hold the flash suppressor.

Thorsbear,

Thanks for the information on the set screw on the metal cocking tube. I’ll see if i can come up with something to go over the barrel and into the tube. Based on the export schedule I won’t be receiving the tube until February so I’ll update then if I have any issues with CBSA. It’s the same company out of Arizona that’s supplying the cocking tube and doing the export and import so i’m hoping it will arrive here without any issues. But at least i know not to be surprised if it doesn’t make it.

On the other hand i ordered some mp5 airsoft parts including push pins and a collapsible stock for my full length gsg that were all clearly labeled as mp5. That package spent i think 30 days with CBSA, was opened and inspected and resealed with yellow CBSA tape and nothing was seized and duties and taxes weren’t assessed. I received that package last month in November.

Thanks Thorsbear,

My metal cocking tube arrived today, no issues with export/import of it. The threads on the inside of the cocking tube seem to work fine with the faux flash hider that came with the factory 9". I still want to replace that faux hider with a tri lug adapter or something I just need to get the barrel threaded first.

so what's the word these days iv been out of the loop for a while since the 9 inch versions came out. can you put a collapsing stock on a 9 inch version if it's permanently modified to be fixed?

Hello,
Dlask arms sold the Dlask GSG 16 with a 9" barrel and a fixed collapsible stock.

IIRC You need to ensure that the stock is fixed permanently to ensure that the overall length is 26" or more.

also IIRC, they said cant use glue. they said must use a tool to unscrew the screw that prevented the lever from turning.
