The GSG 16 modification thread

What are you guys doing for flash hiders? Are there any airsoft pieces that will do the job on a dlask 9 incher? I'm loathe to pay almost $100 bucks and would love a cheaper option.

You can use any flash hider that uses a 1/2x28TPI thread.

HKParts sells a Trilug adapter that threads on to 1/2" 28TPI. Couldn't get any cooler than that

Airsoft mostly uses reverse rotation 14mm threads so not much choice there.

I had this one in my parts box, but as stated any 1/2 x 28 will work, like you 100.00 is up there for a brake on a .22, have enough into this clone. :)

What's the OAL with the 9" barrels, excluding muzzle devices? Are their varying fixed stock options to reduce LOP? The MP5 fixed stocks always looked kind of long to me but I've never held one, and I don't know if OAL restriction would allow Canadians any options anyway.

Length with the classic mp5 fixed stock is right on the border. They look long but are ideal for all but the shortest user.

Looks like GSG is making factory 9” barrel version of the Gsg16 and they should be in Canada later this year.

I can't wait.. I was talking to someone from dlask a while back and the attitude I got for a simple question ensured I will never give them a cent so I'm really glad gsg is doing their own. not particularly a fan of the stock tho.

Full of attitude and not very helpful. Used to stop in buy the odd thing. No more, they are like minutes from my house. Rather drive an hour instead and spend my money where there is actual service.

With how long stuff takes to get to market in Canada, I doubt the GSG 16 short barrel will be ready in a year.

Look at the Kriss Vector 22 fiasco as well, gorgeous gun that they errored in submitting a version to RCMP that didnt meet min. length requirements and became restricted and 10rnd only. I think with GSG introducing this we might be in for an open can of worms with RCMP. I am starting to get paranoid like the rest of you lol

No bashing Dlask Arms here, they are the innovator producing a beautiful barrel when no one else would. Awesome bunch of guys who are just too busy to answer a phone all day long. Without them leading the way (500+ barrels sold in Canada alone!!) GSG would still be offering that fake can!

GSG's new barrel is 9.25" long with an overall length of 665mm or 26.181".

Didn't stop GSG from introducing a GSG 5K pistol in the states when the GSG 5 first appeared. If something like this happens again (or adjustable stock coupled with the 9.25" barrel) you'll need to buy a pop rivet kit so you can pin your 110 round drum to 10 rounds.

Don't mind me, I'm just paranoid. I should trust the regulators in Canada to properly apply rules equally which they always do. After all it was the regulators who banned the GSG 5 because it was so dangerous and an MP5 subtype but allowed us to have the more safe and anonymous GSG 16 without issue.

Anyone know where to get a foreword top rail delete? Almost done my build, picked up my 9” dlask barrel today, just need the rail delete, thanks Adam.

Some new updates from me! (No im not dead haha)

I have been searching for a better material to develop my Rail adapters as although my PLA+ versions were strong they do not like the heat and thus warp sometimes (Mostly through sitting in a hot car or extended periods of direct sunlight)

And as most have been waiting I have been developing a Railed Adapter, although it was functional in PLA+ I wasnt satisfied with the material.

Printing in ABS turned out to be a massive failure since it behaves nothing like PLA and is quite temperamental. So I turned to SLA Printing! Here are some prototypes I can share with you!

As you can see the Railed Version has quite a bit more reinforcements developed into it and sits nice and snug in the body with no movement as far as I can tell. Paired with the solid nature of SLA printing it adds a bit of rigidity to the upper.

Some initial testing with a PLA+ Railed version showed me that it was holding zero decently well, but I was utilizing a Airsoft Reddot which was probably closer to 6 MOA so at the time I was seeing about 2-3 inch groupings at about 20-25m.

Then again I wouldnt class this as a target rifle so I was pretty content with the results.

Will be doing testing with these new SLA variants, utilizing a Vortex scope to verify how well it does indeed hold zero!

Furthermore addressing the issue of misaligned Iron sights. I created some extended front sight posts to help compensate for the deviation.

I have made 4 variants each one being 1mm taller than the last, basing it off the height of the tallest sightpost found stock with the gun.

With my VFC 416 sight (Seems to sit slightly lower than most MP5 Rear Sights) and a #2 post I was able to hit things! yay...great success!!

These are all still being tested but looks like everything is turning to be quite promising, still working on this dont worry!! :)

Any update on this? Hopefully it'll be ready to go on sale soon. Would be nice to have for summer.
