Just picked up a GSG16, (my first gun). Took it out for the first time today, ran flawlessly. Love it.

I think I'd like to try an optic (not red dot)on it, are there any suggestions for inexpensive scopes? I've seen a few recommendations for a Simmons Truplex .22 Mag Riflescope, but apparently it fits "dovetail" and not Picatinny rails.

Just buy new scope rings. Doubt they will cost you anymore than 20$

I installed mine for that MP5 look only and using a red dot for aiming instead. The rear HK sight sits in a special groove on a custom 3D printed top rail that one of the members here was manufacturing a while ago.

Wicked build! I might just leave the sights broken and call it a day in that case.
Perhaps down the road I'd look at the dlask barrel.
Did you notice an accuracy improvement?

I wouldn't say there was any improvement. But no worse.

Peter just sent me his new rail delete, and my rear sight came from China. So I'm hoping to get my GSG out to the range soon.

You'll have to 3d a filler piece as well. Jhedsy posted a photo in this thread only a few posts back where he 3d printed a filler piece to use with his picatinny handgaurd.

GSG16s are not true to an Mp5. The receiver is cut back where the barrel exits compared to an MP5

You can see in your photo the attachment for the charging handle is flush the be receiver, not the same on the GSG16

I got my rail from DTB today.. Been waiting for him to make it for well over a year, since I did not find that the claw mounts fitted to my liking.

@DropTheBomb, will your new rail be compatible with 416 drum sight just like your previous rail delete and also any news on those front sights that you were developing? Thanks.
 
@Thosbear, one of your gsg 16 has the Midwest industries mlok handguard installed on it, was it drop in or did you have to modify anything on the gun? Thanks.
 
Had some spare parts and a good deal on a used one came my way so I added a shorty. A bit less detail and effort the second time around (except for the 4 Position lower... that was a PITA) but still worth it!!!

The MLOK handgaurd on my rifle are made to fit the GSG522 / GSG16. The Midwest Industries MP5 model is too short (same problem as the the 3d print posted above). It could be used but you would need to fabricate a filler sleeve where the barrel exits the receiver.

Yes I do have a version specific to the 416 rear sight, I can definitely bring one or two in. That being said the standard MP5 style one does as well fit my 416 rear sight.
 
I currently have 5 MP5 style ones available for purchase. I initially ordered 15 but the other batch did not meet my standard and ive been getting a new batch made.

Hoping to have more soon if these sell :)
