First modified Factory GSG9 photos, very nice work Lungfish, looks awesome!

Just curious, how much barrel is inside the flash suppressor? Does it stop right were the flash cutouts are?

Still waiting for my GSG9 to show up from Cabelas:(

The barrel extends a little more than an inch and is covered by the flah hider (ends just before the slots)

There's about 1¼ " sticking out. It goes to just before the cutouts of the flash hider.

I still have to figure that out a little better on mine. The threaded part doesn't go all the way in on the conversion. I might have to cut the threads a little shorter.

I dont mean to start a debate with this question but is it legal if the stock is pinned so it cant collapse for a 9 inch barrel version?

IIRC For a rimfire rifle N/R is measured by total length from stock to end of barrel. If 26" it is N/R. The stock can collapse but the shortest distance must be 26"
Removable barrel extensions do not count as part of overall length

Awesome photos! Looks like the GSG arrives on Tuesday. Once it gets here I have a few pieces that might work.

Finally done the next mod

SEF Trigger housing with MP5 SEF fire control switch

This was a pretty crazy modification. It uses an airsoft SEF housing and an MP5 fire control selector. You have to actually permanently modify by drilling the GSG16 trigger housing to accomodate the larger fire control selector. The selector is held in place the exact same way as a normal MP5 which uses a small steel tab that is cast onto the shaft. When moved to 12 o'clock the selector can be pulled out without any tools. The stop points are controlled by a ball bearing forced by a spring on the selector. As it follows the arc of travel it stops at S, E and F. S works perfectly as safety while E and F both allow the GSG to fire (only semi auto lol).

E for Einz

F for F yeah!

Close up of the fire control selector (not polished or blued yet)

Here is a comparison to my old version using a modified fire control selector from the GSG522 conversion (reading it backwards)

The newer version allows simple thumb control of selector, the old version above did as well but with more reach needed.

FYI GSG 16 - 9 is on sale at Cabela's!!
I’ve been eyeing it up and my lock went from in stock to limited stock which usually means less than 5 guess I gotta go do it ! And then to browse forum more see what’s better about these new 9” in terms of parts and what needs to be modded now on them or if still all mods should be applied depending what I want with it

i have officially gone through all 170 pages of this thread, over 3 days. I just picked up a GSG16 2 days ago, new R/PAL Licensee. Gonna be fun to see where this leads me. Looks like a solid choice of firearm to mod. I have a problem keeping anything stock
