The JR Carbine Thread

Anyone using a brass catcher on these things? I have only about 500rds through my jrc in .40 but it's been 100% so far with all types of ammo. Even feeds swc lee bullets seated backwards..... Cleaned it once after 50rds, wiped everything after oiling and it seems to do well this way.
 
Just had my 9mm out to the range for the first time, I just used my reloads and fired at least 100 rounds through it and it worked perfect. Just shot a 50 yards but it was one jagged hole. These guns really do shot nice

Yes, I'm using one of the Caldwell pic rail mounted brass catchers on mine in 45acp. Has been working well, and saves me having to pickup my brass for reloading after.

What's bad about the JR Carbines? I was set to get a CX4 until I started researching other pistol calibre carbines and now this could be an option. I saw some reviews about poor trigger, ejection issues and percussion caps getting hit so hard by the firing pin they got pierced. Most of those reviews were 2 or more years ago though so I wonder if such things have been solved but what other negatives might remain.
 
I bought one in December 2015 and fired it for the first time 2 weeks ago, I put about 100 rounds through it and it worked perfectly, I was just shooting a 50 yards, put a large ragged hole in the target. I changed the trigger before I shot it so can't comment of factory trigger, but I put timney trigger in every gun I own. Had zero problems with stove piping or piercing primers. I would buy another one, quite impressed with the rifle
 
I bought mine in 40 cal 1.5 years ago. Had lots of trouble with it jamming the shells sideways and then failing to eject the last casing. Dealing with JR was good and they sent me free parts to solve the problems. I haven't fired it in a year but after all the repairs it seemed to work good. A little disappointed I had to go through the trouble but they were good to deal with.

They're heavy. Other than that I love it. Can't comment on the trigger either, I mod all my AR triggers so that they are all the same.
 
That's my ONLY complaint with mine after MANY thousand rounds ( I quit counting at 15K). The trigger on mine was a touch heavy when brand new, and easilty corrected with 15 minutes of file & stone work. I've never had a gun induced FTF; a few reloads that were squibs, but the gun didn't cause that. It's a very consistent shooter, providing you keep it clean. Again, not a big deal. The only issue I've ever had with the gun was firing pin wear; by no means excessive, it just lost a tiny bit of length after 10K or so. I emailed JR, & they sent me replacement parts that day, gratis.

I've long believed this gun is underpriced. The durability I've gotten from it, I'd certainly pay more for it than I did

I love mine, I have done almost everything to mine also Added a KE arms trigger it and makes a big difference in my opinion, also added a Seekins precision forgrip and safety selector, Noveske handguard, troy flip up iron sights and vortex spitfire red dot, magpul acs stock and grip. some people and most people would think its crazy to invest that much money into a gun like the JR Carbine but I love it

Hey guys ! new to the JR carbine game, gotta admit I'm pretty excited about it. It is bone stock at the moment, knowing myself that won't stay that way!

Got the 9mm version with threaded barrel.

Anyway, Was wondering where you guys where getting parts like flashhider and a front rail that fits it. I know the stock and pistol grip are AR compatible so I'll be getting this pretty soon but I can't stand the front rail it kills me.

I'm also wondering what weight of round you guys find more accurate.

nobody ? ok then... I went and try it

As of now, it looks gorgeous, lightweight and super confy. only downside is that it is spaced from the receiver since I had to shim it to align the rail

Looks great! ..You would think that JR would make it perfectly match up to the receiver with the rail also being aligned ...how did you shim it?
