The MG34 Repair and Troubleshooting Thread

Well was busy today taking the Green Yugo paint off :) and spraying it with some RAL 6006

I bought one of these at the Chilliwack gun show a number of years ago. The idea was to get a MG34 eventually along with the conversion piece for the MG34. Looks like it will be a while. It came complete with the Hensoldt optic and folds into a backpack. I find if nothing else it looks cool even on it's own. I'll start saving up for when Dilligaf decides to sell his MG34 kit. :ninja:

Marstar has these for sale, not cheap though
And you have to buy the mounting block from TNW and do a bit of grinding on the tripod for the 34 to fit plus make a new part to contact the trigger as this tripod is for an mg 42 not a 34

Man Epoxy that tripod is wicked cool.

Wonder how it ended up at the Chilliwack gunshow.....

The guy I bought it from had a dewat MG42 he used the stand for which he sold. I don't think he knew about the MG34 being able to be used with one.

Yup. Irunguns was selling the conversion piece a few years back. I'm a ways off buying a MG34 and I've given up hope on a non restricted MG42. This just came up at a price I couldn't pass up. Complete with Hensoldt periscope optic, battery container etc and was in excellent shape.

I thought RAL 6006 was the correct color for MG drums? My 2 Yugo drums will stay puke green :)

Maybe if used in Africa/Afrika or if rusted out. But otherwise I thought they were green? All of the photos I've seen are black/white so I have to admit I'm not sure. Don't worry your repainting has now devalued the entire set. I will reluctantly buy it off you when you choose to sell at a huge discount due to the historical destruction!!

It was 115$ from Marstar for the 2 drums and carrier. And the Yogus already screwed them up painting them Apple green during the refub process.

Heck I spent 75$ on the paint and primer...lol...

You know I'm joking around right? Although it's good to know that they are around in those sets. One of these days I want a MG34 and a MG42.

Ill never sell the MG34 :) Unless something cooler comes along. But I highly doubt that.

Tomorrow im painting my Ammo can and spider sight. The ammo can is Yugo Green but its a German made one and the spider sight is an unpainted repo.

Don't give up hope on a semi auto mg42, TNW is supposed to start building semi 42s this year sometime.
With any luck we will be able to get them here
When I modded my tripod for the 34 I did it in a way so that a 42 can still fit on it too. Some guys bend the orig trigger actuator on the tripod to work with the 34 but I removed it and made an aluminum one instead

What kind of ammo are you going to run? When I first got mine I tried the 50s yugo surplus and didn't have good luck at all with it
Ended up reloading my own 8mm and it's been good. I have tried S&B and PPU and they worked good too
As for your AA sight maybe one of those home bluing kits would be better then painting it?

Waste of money, next painting buy the Princess Auto sandable primer then buy a rattle can of Dupi-Color grey bumper coating at Canadian Tire if you are going for PZGrau .

Isn't there a FRT for a semi-auto non-restricted MG 42 aka the M53 by zastava. It's just that no-one wants to import them.

By far one of the best threads on CGN.
Keep it up Dil!

Off topic, are you adopting ? Hahahha!

Cheers,

Hopefully your maiden voyage this weekend goes smoothly and you don't have too many issues getting it to run consistently
Let us know how that ammo works out I may have to get some to try out

The Non-restricted classification and FRT are for the semi auto MG42/SARAC 53 prototypes made by Zastava for John at Marstar.
He has indicated that he will sell them, along with the engineering package for the project.
