I have been bowhunting for moose for 35+ years... and while I don't consider myself a trophy hunter (for any species), I do appreciate a nice representative adult male of whichever species I am after and will pass up lesser animals that present for shots... with moose, more than any other game animal, I tend to lean more to being a meat hunter, as I surely enjoy dining on moose meat... and I appreciate that my entire family feels the same... which they don't for bear, deer, waterfowl, small game, even turkey (except the jerky)... So, it is very difficult to pass up a healthy 2 or 3 year old bull, with a tag burning a hole in my pocket. I have taken close to 20 Canada bulls (to be honest I'm not exactly sure how many, as I'm not really one to tally) ... 6 or 8 of those were over 50 inches, the largest (seen below) was 62 5/8" and gross scored 221 7/8"... We have another bull tag this year and will return to the same area next week, looking for the one that charged me three times after dropping the big lad below...

thats really nice man. i have always wondered if bow hunters have a rifle as backup in case they miss and get charged. there was a video going around recently with a bowhunter gettin charged and i would have peed myself.
In Ontario, it is not legal to carry a rifle while bowhunting big
dumb rule.

With the season so short here in NB, we generally shoot the first one we see be it cow or bull. Calves mostly get shot on the last day.Big cow this year, going for bulls next year.
