.375

Ok, I'll add my 2 cents to this. Personally nobody I know here on south Vancouver Island owns or has shot a .375 Ruger. Granted few have shot any .375's but those that have were H+H's. I've owned 3 H+H's over the last 30 years and will be carrying a Browning Safari Mauser .375 H+H this October and November in Alberta for moose/elk and deer (and any bears that give me a look). Forgive me for saying, but Ruger 77's dont "do it for me" which would be the only reason for a .375 Ruger. If you're going with a No.1 why not stick with the good old H+H? By the way, I own a .375 Taylor.

Because Ruger chose to chamber the .375 H&H in their big heavy safari pig "Tropical" 1-H model.. They chamber their .375 Ruger in a much slimmer, lighter "Medium Sporter" 1-S model..
If you add Rugers heavy rings and a scope to the .375 H&H Tropical you are pushing 10.5 pounds!...
With a scoped .375 Ruger in the Medium Sporter you will be running close to 8.5 pounds which isn't that bad, but personally I would ditch the scope to keep the weight down unless I knew most shots would be over 200 yards..:)

My KING 375 and I went to the range today. I tried some handloaded 260 gr accubonds, they went 1" at 100 yds, then i tried some handloaded 300 gr hornady DGS, they also went 1" at 100. After that, for some fun, and to actually test the repeatability of Ruger rings, I pulled the scope and shot a group of 270 gr sp factory loads. Those went 2" at 100 yds, and about 3" right of the point of aim. Replaced the scope and was bang on at 100 yds again.

I know i am a little late, but i am glad i could make it to this coronation party.

to sum it up, you're saying you're in possession of the magic scope? :bump:

What is a fallacy?
