The New Winchester Model 71s Are Finally Here!

You mean you haven't fired your carbine yet? I'll be looking for a leather sling to put on mine. Walter probably has something on the shelf at Ramakkos. We should get together out at Rifles and Reels out in Garson, one of these days.
 
Yeah, I have to say I would be alot more interested in them aswell if they had no tang safety and non-rebounding hammers. The half #### is all ya need.
 
I've been getting by with a half #### for years. I can understand the safety but the rebounding hammer with it's light primer strikes is a real PITA. All that said, I still really love those Miroku rifles.

Wow! That's some pretty nice wood for a Standard. The one that I looked at Ramakko's was as straight a grain as I've ever seen. Way too plain in my opinion. It sure is nice to see a rifle before you buy.
 
Mine arrived yesterday. Fit and finish seem excellent and the wood is nice although nothing to get excited about. I'm glad I got the deluxe.

I spent last night going through some old ammo I have. I have about 50 250gr factory silvertips. Some had some minor corrosion which cleaned up well although I had to dispose of a few. I also have a box of 150gr Remington. I think I'm going to blow them off next weekend to get the brass for reloading unless someone wants to trade for 200gr silvertips. Any takers? I think I'll try to duplicate the factory 200gr silvertip load as I have about 400 bullets.

Im embarrased to say i havent even wipped the shipping grease off it. Tuesday night was busy with the wife and Wednesday is skeet night. I'll likely get her cleaned up Saturday and I'll get some pics up then.

I just ordered a peep sight for it today, so I'll likely wait for it to arrive before I shoot it. If you want to have a look at it, send me a PM and you can come to the farm and have a look at it. I'm just south of the TSC store.

I am a member at Waterford although I dont know if I'll be out Saturday. I'll be at HAHA Sunday for sure.
