I recently bought a new Remington CDL Model Seven in .223. I haven't bought a new rifle in yrs, prefering used from the EE, but am glad I did but this one as I like this rifle ALOT! Decent wood, nice checkering and overall a nice looking rifle. Remington did a nice job with these CDLs, both in the 700s and Model Sevens

This rifle [20" bbl] as shown with VXII 2x7LR and Talleys weighs 6.75lbs and handles very well.

It struck me that this rifle/scope set up in 7/08 or .308 would pretty much be THE perfect eastern style hunting rifle. One of these in a 358Win would a sweet little rifle as well, esp with the Factory Limbsaver pad. It's nice to see some of the factorys finally installing good pads instead of the hard plastic in the past.

Nice little rifle there Supercub. And here I thought the perfect eastern rifle was a lever action Marlin-Glenfield .30-30 Win. with a 4-12x40 scope in see-through mounts with a military style adjustable leather sling and a slip-on rubber recoil pad ;) :D

My 223 is in an AR platform, I use it on the Brigades of Prairie Poodels here. :D Can't use 223 for any Big Game here. :(
Unfortunately, the ARs are restricted here in Canada and like handguns can only be used at an approved range, otherwise I would own one of them as well.

Makes no sense at all cuz I can go anywhere I want with a Mini14 [semi-auto .223, 5shot mag], but the the AR [semi-auto .223, 5shot mag] is too evil for us Canucks and needs to be further regulated for the safety of the public. :bangHead:

I had a CDL Model 7 in 350 Rem Mag. Nice balance and it shot very well. It wasn't that bad to shoot recoil wise either. It would group 1 1/4" @ 100 yds with 250 gr Speers @ 2450fps. Thats as close to the Hammer of Thor as you can get in a small package. :)

That and that handgun laws are the only thing keeping me from becoming a Canuck.

I know, I just can't see turning in my Concealed Carry permit. But the Elk Hunting is good. Thinkin' I need to go to Alberta for a Deer hunt though, and Newfoundland for a good Black Bear hunt. Les

Much good moose hunting in NFLD as well as bear. That's the best thing about Canada is the moose hunting in every province and territory.

One of those CDLs in a 350RM or a 358Win [I wish] would be perfect for moose.

Rem

That's not a bad western rifle either P. Rem did create a gooder in those CDLs.

I was just chasing coyotes today with my 223 M700 CDL. It has become a favorite of mine. Someday a 243 CDL might join it in the safe for a matching pair of varminters.

If I had lots of cash to waste, I'd have one each in .223AI, 250AI, and 358Win, all with good stainless 21" bbls, and all with the same mounts and scopes.

ROTFLMAO...and you said I was crazy. Why didn't you get the Stevens?
Why didn't YOU get a Stevens instead of that boat anchor Remmy Semmy pc of junk. I guess being one of the island GANGSTAS limits one to his choices of hardware.

Wierdo ....
