If you can, take your scope and rail to a gun store and try out various types of rings. Thats what I did, and ended up with the perfect mount. It also depends on how far forward or backward you move the scope. Mine is soo close to the rail I cant fit my caps on anymore.

My 56mm objective lense on my Falcon Menace does no clear the rail so I had to use the Leupold Mark 4 super high rings.

Question for you SL8 experts: How the heck do I get the floorplate off the 5rnd SL8 mag?? I tried pushing on the bottom right side of the mag to disengage the small locking tab, but it seem pretty hard to push and I'm afraid of breaking it if I use a screwdriver or else. Is there a trick??
 
Does anyone know if the stock G36 barrel (the 18.9 inch one) is a drop in replacement for the factory SL8 barrel or if headspacing and/or changes to the piston system are required?

That barrel should drop right in from what I understand, and I believe the gas system is also the same length, so you shouldn't need a replacement piston/oprod either.
 
All barrels are interchangable. Only the piston and piston rod are barrel specific (The gas block and it location are different also, but that should already be attached to the barrel if you are doing a swap.)

Its a magazines, not a clip. SKS uses clips... :p


My SL8 -> G36k conversion is almost done, just waiting for the barrel wrench, and the new style G36k handguard with handstop and rails!

Dye Job Done! - Pics to follow

Wife was at work, boy was with baby sitter........lovely day to do the siding on my house, but first boil some water..........cleaned everything with degreaser, acetone and finaly with alcohol, added 4 bottles of Black and one Green to a 5gal bucket & soaked for 6hrs - and the result, a flat battery to the Camera. Ill post pics tomorrow, but I can tell you that the reciever turned out AWSOME the handgaurd just as good, magwell is a almost navy blue - getting an AR magwell so im not too bothered, Original TH Stock is an awsome shade of blue too, not too bothered with that either as Ive got a fancy custom jobby.

On my part, just finished removing the tabs in the receiver for the AR mags to fit. Man it takes some guts to use a dremel inside the receiver of a 2.4K+ rifle...

Already got the NEA magwell adapter and used flat black camo paint to get a closer color match. The G36C stock is on its way. Now the hard part is getting the lower and the stock block. But hey, for a guy who didn't know he was getting an SL8 a month ago, things are going pretty well I think. Pics to come soon also.
 
^removing tabs inside? i never had to dremal anything inside mine for AR mags to work.
i know ive read something about it but obviously not much as i never did it.
???
i also got my AR mags to pop out freely (like they should) last week. its sweet!
