ebay all aluminum rail arrives......

Got my short rail today, UTG markings all over it........I dont care, it fits & works for $55 shipped to canada.........DONE DEAL

On another note, Has anyone Dyed their grey SL8 stock, Ive searched the forums, here and abroad and have ordered 4 bottles of black & 2 of dark green RIT Dye from a retailer, any tips would be greatly appreciated

Ive read those thouroughly, I was wondering if anyone here had some Do's/Dont's.......the duracoat didnt hold up aswell on the reciever as I thought it would after a trip to the range, hence the dye job.
 
^ get yourself a disposable aluminum roasting pan from any grocery store to do your dying in. your wife will kill you for using one of her pans.
to not risk spilling the stuff all over the kitchen and destroying your house, get a crappy old 2 burner electric stove (like youd find in a ghetto bachelor pad) that way you can do this outside or in the garage.

if you do this, use a baking sheet between the burners and the aluminum roasting pan so the burners dont cook your plastic parts.

otherwise, just follow the instructions you find on the net.

also, lets see a photo of your new rail! how does it fit?
 
UTG Aluminum Rail - Pics

Heres some pics of the UTG Rail, Its solid, it fits like a glove and Im happy with the overall fit & Finish.

The only thing is, the SL8 Iron Sights dont fit the rail, but Im topping it off with a Scope and or some Magpul battle sights.

New SL8-4

So P&D included an SL8 in their updated firearms list on Monday. I promised myself I'd get one if they had one left on Saturday (today). They did and I did :D

I am thinking of putting a Vortex SPARC red dot sight on it. Has anyone tried that and added some BUIS to go with it (not sure how they'd work with the short rail). any other suggestions for a good, moderately priced, sight?

I definitely want to change the stock and that will be my first upgrade. What other 'must-do' upgrades do you folks suggest I consider?

Spear mags.

Blaxsun (The nice guy who gets in the HERA products) is offering to bring in the spear magazins at a cost of $45 for the 5/10 and $50 for the 5/30. We were hoping for a special run of dark/smoke mags, but he would need an order of 300. I dose not look like there is enogh interest in them so he is concentrating on the standard colours. (He may decide to get the custom colouy anyway, But it depends on the final numbers.)

He asked me to put together a pre-order list of those interested and then send it to him. This is a one time order at basically "at cost" price for CGN members. I sent out a PM to several members. If you did not get a PM, send me one and I can add you to the list.

Here is what is available:

5/10 round in black, clear, diffused/frosted and red. $45
5/30 round in black, clear, diffused/frosted and red. $50
(If we get 300 pre-ordered he can do the Diffused/dark at a possible even better price)

CNADNSL8-5, you would almost certainly know the answer to this.

I got your ESB2-1 mag release. Love it, the thing works amazing.

Then I got an AR magwell adaptor. The bolt hold open no longer catches unless it is manually pressed. The magazine follower is too far forward to hit the bolt catch.

Are there any magwells or modifications I can do to let me use AR mags without losing the feature of the bolt locking back on last shot?

Give it a few more weeks and Ill post some more pics, doing dye job next weekend (hopefully), Im going to attempt a custom stock with an ACE Skeleton stok Ive got kicking around somewhere, plus a few other goodies Im hoping to get my grubby meat hooks on in the coming month or so :D - Ive caught the SL-8 Mod bug!

my bolt catches on the AR mags just the same using my AR magwell. ???
is it possibly your mags/followers themselves? i know some of mine catch better than others.

There were some issues with the AR adapters not engaging the bolt hold open. The AR mags sit too far forward in the conversion magwell for the follower to catch. What brand is your adapter?
 
I am going to Las Vegas in the near future and was wondering if anyone here knew of a dealer there that might carry the single optic carry handle for a G36 conversion? Wolverine Supplies has had me on their back-order list for quite a while . . . I know about the ITAR thing and would only do it if it was under $100 ;)

I thought that any optic couldn't be exported without a permit, no matter what the price. I don't understand the interest in saving a few bucks when you could face serious penalties for exporting the wrong item. My take is that if you can't find a US dealer who can legitimately export it for you then don't risk it yourself.

It's not about saving a few bucks . . . You cannot get this in Canada at present and I don't want to be on a backorder list for God knows how long . . . show me where to get one in Canada and I will pay top-dollar . . . btw, the "in stock" one at Wolverine Supplies is incorrect - but I am on their back-order list.
