HERA arms now has G36 conversions.

HERA arms has posted on HK Pro that they are about to release a G36 conversion for the SL8. This should provide a fairly esay supply of these conversions since it is a German company and Arms East is their Canadian importer. Time will tell.

HERA statement:
Hallo mein Herrn und meine Damen

Wanted to let all you HK nuts out there know that HERA is now in the final stages of testing our G36 conversion. I have posted a few pics of what it is...

We are using a one piece design (that means no more end blocks using very high grade fiber plastics to get the HK feel!!

Hope this is interesting for some of you

It looks like the sleeve needs to be attached to every mag, since it basically locks into the AR mag catch but allows it to use the G36 mag catch.

I think you are correct. I hope that this will be a low cost item so buying a few will offset the cost of a new mag well.

I have both rails Deck and the long version is fine if you want to use irons but I'm not a huge fan of the SL-8 irons for the following:

-They are too high and with them mounted you can't really mount a scope as low as you should. The actual G36 Irons mount lower which I would better appreciate. I guess if you wanted to cowitness a red dot then the factory irons are fine.
-The front sight post is too large so I think any shooting at range would be impeaded by this.
-The rear peep is a large square block and I find it obtrusive.

Finally, pretty much everyone mounts a scope so the long rail is moot.

G36 rail is about $150-$200 after exchange and shipping from the US if you can find one. They are pretty much the short rail with low integrated irons.

How much do you want to spend and how far do you want to go on a G36 conversion. Some have paid upwards of $6k for theirs.
