The flashider is inside the shroud so the length is not effected, its around the size of my Noveske ZX-3. There's no issues with the pictograms as that is just a matter of form rather than function. The rear joint is a mix of a stainless steel spine, counter sunk allen screws and Devcon II plastic welder. Currently with an 18.5" barrel it meets the requirements for non-restricted.

I picked up an SL8(grey model) a while back, but never got a chance to take it out for a run, I've made a few up grades, the biggest was changing the mag well, nothing to big. But I bought an H&K thinking it would be accurate, I can't seem to get much of a grouping, the only thing I can come up with is maybe the cheaper shells I've been running. I would apreciate any feadback on the accuracey of this rifle, and before you go there its not the man on the trigger,thanks.
 
My SL8 likes heavy weight bullets such as 77gr and 75gr BTHP. I get sub-moa when fired from a benchrest. Shooting 55gr ammo I get around 1.5.

Perhaps you can try a box of Hornady TAP 75gr .223, Federal Gold Medal 77gr .223 or something in the likes of these?
 
Its been tuff finding 223/5.56 ammo,as I'm sure you already know, but I was running light, 55g. soft points from Sellier & Bellot, and Winchester FMJ also 55g..
 
I don't know about the S&B but the Winchester whitebox is total junk for accuracy. The best factory ammo I found for the SL8 is Remington UMC or maybe some match 62-77gr stuff.

I'd say its the food your feeding her not the horse.
 
G36 optic

How do you tell the difference between the 1.5x optic and the 3x optic? Are the reticules different? The SL8 I bought came with the single optic but I can't tell which one it is.

From what I can find, the 3X has marks for 200m, 400m, 600m, 800m. The 1.5x just has a single mark for 300m.

Are there any numbers or other markings on the scope?

i have the dual optic, and it only marks those 4 distance in the bottom left corner. aside from that, theres the reticule in the center.

you can look up the reticule and sight info on wikipedia under G36
 
Does you recticule look like the one below? This is the 3x.

The export versions have a single optical sight with a 1.5x magnification and an aiming reticule fixed at 300 m

The standard German Army versions of the G36 are equipped with a ZF 3x4° dual optical sight that combines a 3x magnified telescopic sight (with the main reticule designed for firing at 200 m and bullet drop compensation markings for: 200, 400, 600 and 800 m crosshairs and a range-finding scale) and an unmagnified reflex red-dot sight (calibrated for firing at 200 m) mounted on top of the telescopic sight.[1] The red dot sight is activated by ambient light during the day and requires battery power in a zero light environment.

Exactly! Thanks guys. For some reasons, I find it to be pain in the *** to shoot with this sight. I'm used to my 4x ACOG and even though it's only a little bit more powerful, it makes a good difference. Maybe it's the thickness of the reticule lines of the G36 sight, they're rather fat...

Are you sure that you have a original Hensoldt? I have one and the reticule lines are rather thin even in comparison to the ACOG.
