The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

G36 rails do have the U shaped washers. this one i posted the e-bay listing for dosnt, as you pointed out, but the true G36 style rails do. the G36 ones ive seen are exact, minus the center bolt hole that is off by 1/4" toward the rear.
you can see here that this looks to be an airsoft gun sporting a real SL8 short rail. you can see how the middle screw is missing as it dosnt quite line up.

Turbo...>I checked that link again and messaged about that gun....its a conversion from an SL8 to G36...that rail when I blow up the pic has the infamous UTG logo on it in white....so I am sure that is the ebay type and just adapted to it...so it must fit as the 3 bolts are there and in....other other pic above in this post shows the real rail NOT lining up with the holes on the airsoft gun....I don't get it how can it work one way and not the other!>!>!>>!>

There must be a third aftermarket variation....1 from UTG,...second from a Chinese manufacturer that fits airsoft.....

I am thoroughly confused....BUT this is half the fun....search and learn is what the internet is about I guess!!!

Anyone else wana chime in...it all helps with the gaining of knowledge for the group.

BTW...I checked with the ebay seller....they ship to Canada...BUT only with WAY over inflated cost...and OUTSIDE of the EBAY process and (FRAUD ALERT) protection.
Has anyone here bought one from them and have any probs??

all i can say is that trying to fit a friends airsoft rail onto my real sl8 worked except for the 2nd screw hole lining up, which could be drilled to work. i imagine this is how they get away with legally saying "parts will not fit a real gun".

your best bet would be to ask the seller to measure center to center between those 2 rear bolt holes, and then check your sl8. as i say, the difference i saw was about 1/4" and a properly placed hole could be drilled into the gun to line up if one isnt worried about drilling on there gun.
or, you could see about getting one of these to canada.... still a very nice price in the states

but good luck with THOSE extra costs.

the airsoft stuff (grip, rail, stock) WILL fit with a bit of touching up with a file here and there to the airsoft piece and a bit of fooling. is it worth it?
it depends whats more of a headache.... paying to get the real parts to canada at 10x the cost, or some fudging and knowing you have airsoft parts on your expensive gun.
in my opinion, for the prices, it would almost be worth the experiment alone.
not to mention, ive seen some high quality airsoft parts made in aluminum that are still only made in plastic by HK.

im sounding like an advocate for airsoft parts, but over all, the quality i have seen is almost matched with the real thing at WAY lower prices and easy availability.
unless your a name brand whore.... some are.

perhaps this should become another thread as i feel like im hacking this one with blasphemy. i know there are many out there that would disagree with my thinking.

Thought you guys might be interested to know that we are about to release a new charging handle, low profile top rail and bolt release as part of a modernization package we have been awarded for clients over sea's.

IF anyone has bought this rail...post your findings here... I have heard these do not fit as well or true for mounting a good scope.
The mounting holes are just a bolt that threads through without the proper Ushaped washers....

Well let us know if this works.....the price is a big plus but only if they work...

I just bought one from China, fits great but the middle hole does take some coaxing. the Optics are junk but the rail works fine for a different scope. I am very happy with it and would recommend it! $49 free shipping
