The Stag 10s NR stripped receiver set thread

nothing I've purchased so far for my stag-10 in canada would save me 30-40% if I had sourced it directly from the USA.... not by a long shot man.
I paid 3 x what it cost me for my stag 10 receiver set for a bolt action receiver...... heck the bolt, receiver and rail was actually over 4 x what I paid for my stag-10 receiver set without a bolt.

I can relate on the stainless plate comment..... I made stocks out of carbon fiber composite from scratch and folks thought they were overpriced at 549 LOL .... buy mcmillans and get hosed, I don't care LOL

It varies with parts. If you're doing a build from scratch the savings add up when getting certain parts from Brownells over Canadian suppliers. If the price difference isn't huge I'll go with the Canadian company but often times they're out of stock.

As per IRGs update... my stag receiver set will be here (finally) in Sept.

Anyone know where to find a buffer / buffer spring for the Stag in Canada?
As I understand it, regular Ar15 stuff is a no-go for them.

Only stuff I can find for a buffer is through Brownells.
maple ridge armoury seems to stock some springs now - or RDSC has kits (out of stock) - but I won’t need the tube or other bits as I’m going UBR

Arms East has the stag buffer kits , both rifle and carbine. From the email I got from staff 2 days ago, these items are in stock and ready to ship.

The M+M M10X was selling for around $1100 USD. Immediately after the FRT, the Canadian MSRP was $1450. Then North Sylva weaseled their way in and the price jumped to over $2000. That's a $600 NR tax. There are other examples like the Stag-10S's price jumping in the US after FRT as well as many other examples. It's the same pattern again and again. They get FRT, raise the MSRP in the US and then the price in CAD is way more than what US gun stores are selling them for. The NR tax is what IRG takes advantage of to undercut their competitors in many cases. I don't have a problem with people paying these prices and buying these rifles but I want people to at least know it is happening.

I never really understood this. I cannot say I have seen a blatant NR tax. All the NR guns of 5 years ago were pricey sure but they were also pricey in the states. At a 1.29 exchange most of them were very close. Some were more money if they needed barrel conversions etc.

But I really cannot recall something that was 800 bucks in the states and 2000 here.

Even now the stag is 600 bucks. That's 400 usd for an upper lower and parts kit. I dont think anyone can claim NR tax on that.

X95 is 2k list in usd 1700 street. 2700 list here 2100 on sale. People forget it costs money to bring stuff over the border and again at 1.3 exchange this is right on par.

ACR list is 2249 that's 3k with exchange.

Mini 14 is 1000 list in usd. 1200 here

I dunno if I believe that about the stag-10. In fact the whole time , since june that I have been following the canadian Stag-10 release , All stag-10 models on the stag site were on sale for a few hundred off the msrp. I see zero in the way of NR price fixing going on with the Stag 10. I "do" see a certain business that is going to have to sell any stag product they do manage to get with almost no profit margin to be cheaper than the authorized dealer. That's my take on it anyways.
If Arms East and Stag were playing the NR tax game, Receiver sets with LPK, and upper parts basic kit , as they come right now, would be 699.... 799... ect they could come in just under the other canadian offerings and still sell out like they have.

When I checked their US site, the prices had gone up $400-600 from before. You may be right in that they were sale prices that ended. If so, then my bad. But post #563 in this very thread seems to confirm what I was saying. On another note, the PSA PA-10 appears to be a proprietary lower that will not take other uppers according to what I've read. A complete rifle (upper + lower kits) costs $580 and seems to be of reasonable quality. Is anyone trying to get an FRT for this rifle?

ya, who knows. I don't really pay a tonne of attention to US msrp so may be missing something myself. Haven't seen the psa pa-10 yet but I sure wish someone would submit the Wilson combat AR-10 series rifles for frt now that the stag made it thru. They make a .338 federal and I want one badly LOL

Here's the screen grab of the sales on Stag's site around the time of announcement. AE's site had a similar sale posting when first offered but I didn't grab the screenshot from them. I don't believe anything malicious happened here with pricing as far as I can tell.

People still buy complete AR's ? Didn't know that was a thing since this is the stripped receiver set thread :)

Those all look like trash anyways.

Anyone else have any issues with their Stag 10 seating mags? In the process of putting my Stag 10 together yesterday and it looks to me like the mag catch doesn't extend far enough into the well. It almost looks like the machining for the latch wasn't deep enough. I tried with a Lancer and I was able to rock it out if I put enough force forward. Will try to diagnose further tonight.

Wow, great contribution to the thread.
he tries....lol

Hmm from the reviews and videos i have looked at they should handle almost any mag

Can you tighten it? Push the button in with a punch and give the long piece a few turns?

It's fully seated, I tried tightening to the point threads from the catch were 1/8 inch through the button just to check, and it seated in the same spot. Will post some pics later, maybe try a different mag catch and take some measurements. The catch on my BCL 102 seats into the lower about 1/16 " more than the Stag right now, the Lancers are rock solid in it.
