The SVT 40 Tokarev ***updated april 12th***

Philthy1: They seem pretty effective. I have a refurb sniper with two cross-bolts in the wrist area and have shot a lot of rounds through it with no problem. On the other jand, as Horilka indicated, the repro mounts may damage your notch. The cross pin seems to be too high and can damage the rear of the notch. I'm thinking of putting a thin brass or copper shim in the notch to stop the damage.

Made in China mount that were coming out of Ukraine do make damage to the notch. If you buy repro mount make sure it is quality Russian repro

I've had a few rifles over the years, my svt is by far my favorite. I can't believe how accurate it is for an '41 izzy.
Currently in the process of making a custom rail system to mount a vortex crossfire II 6-18-44.
Similar to a wartak like the sks's have. Once finished, I'll share a pic. Great rifle all around.

Just a little question to toss out there. Is anyone aware of the reason for the two vertical stock splices that you see so often on the SVT 40's? always around the mid-reciever area.

battle damage fixes? the stock seems a little light and flimsy, prone to breaking during wartime use.......i was lucky to get one from Corwin w/ no stock repairs. Thanks Corwin

The ones Im referring to are very consistent and dont look like a typical repair. There is certainly more to the story. They almost look like there had been a previous side scope mount.

Google image is failing me, I cant find a photo, but I've seen a number of these things around. I think I figured it out however .....the "vertical" patches are put in to re-enforce length-wise cracks. sort of like this one on a mosin......I probably should have known that

anyone know what the number "4" in the square means? I have a square with a 4 on the left side of my tula arsenal stamp... Does that mean it used to be an svt38? And why the number 4?
