The T97 Thread!

The real type 95/97 for starters. If you like the original look. Richooutdoors.c has them there, but CGN'S link isn't working for some reason. There are modifications to use a QD sling - I don't know who supplies them though. I think t97.ca was working on a solution, but it might be a while yet before there next project is out for purchase.

Whats a good sling for this rifle?

The new T97 shoots flawlessly. I've only put 80 rounds through it using the original mag with no problems. I purchased a 50 BEOWULF ( PCV-50 ) mag from GP tactical but my T97 does not like it. It is very loose in the magwell and the mag drops about 1/8" every time I fire a round so the next round will not feed unless I hit the bottom of the mag to push it back into place.

Well I did it. You guys convinced me I needed to be liberated from a good chunk of change for one of these suckers. Picked up a used one off Wolverine that came with 4x E-Lander magazines for less than a new one. So the question is, which one of you guys sold your T97 to Wolverine?

Nice! You should consider the FTU mod. I think it makes the rifle much nicer!

When I purchased the FTU (FRAUD ALERT) gave me the option to pay after delivery ( in 21 days ). Works good for me as I only get paid once a month so they will debit my account just after my payday :) Was going to order it then anyway.

I have an FTU coming for it too.
:)

Looks sharp!!!

Does anyone know if its easy to add a lower rail for a foregrip?

I just purchased a small pic rail and attached one to the forend . There's a seam that runs in the middle and I used that to line up the two holes . Attach pic rail and use a white grease marker through the two holes. Drill and screw with some Loctite. 2000 + rounds later and my fore-grip hasn't budged.

Take a look at airsoft stores, they may have something. You'll likely have to modify it to get it on there with anything even remotely resembling sturdiness.

If my memory serves, the original T97 shorty was part of the prohibition debacle and they were all seized, so its unlikely you'll find a legit one.

Or, do yourself a favour and take a look at the lower that the boys over at t97.ca are putting together. Theres a thread in the m14.ca forum around somewhere.

Front grip looks like the Magpul AFG mounted on a small rail. There's lots of posts with that

Good call Duke.
It is the Magpul, and really makes the rifle feel better in the shooters hands.

I finished the FTU upgrade, and am looking for an optic now.
