The T97 Thread!

Can I see a photo? That's what I want to do.

He sent some photos. Really like the look. Pushed me to get one for my gen 1 upper.

On eBay there is a fellow selling 1 YMA-95-600 scope.$800 if any of you guys and gals are interested. China-pla-supplies is the seller. These don't seem to come up very often

Wow. I really like this setup, especially with that new flat keymod upper. If we could get rid of these pesky mag-cap restrictions, I would love to see someone gucci this up into a tacti-cool rifle (an aimpoint or eotech, a weapon light, a laser/illuminator, maybe a stubby foregrip) and really put this weapon through its paces in some kind of Travis Haley-type training course.

If this is what the PLA had chosen to be its primary infantry rifle for the past twenty odd years, this would be a good hard test to see what this plasticy bullpup is made of.

Ah, one can dream...

I have been tempted to buy a rail/magpul stuby, just to see if it is any more comfortable; I even bought paracord for the sloped grip.

Furthermore, I run it with a QBZ95 sling and will get around to threading the barrel for a SHM 'Loudener.'

As to optics, I still have the propriety rail from my, prior, gen1-to-1.5 build: along with gen2 Chinese scope: I love 'throwbacks' on rifles - whether wise or wishful thinking.

Cheers!

So currently running a vortex uh-1 on mine. Debating between upgrading with a LHG or a low power variable.

Gonna try out the service rifle matches this spring/summer

Unless you wish to get a different grip, ergonomic safety (I run the receiver 'hot' and the lower 'safe') and minor rail space... I would get the optic first. A spongy trigger might not be a necessary concern for your matches.

Sweet! Personally I had no interest in the odd original design, so when you say "throwback", I'm thinking "throw it back", LOL. The Gen 2 isn't much better functionally, but it's a step in the right direction.

Just curious though: What kind of accuracy can you get out of this rifle with good ammo? And does that new lower do anything new to the trigger? Make it crisper, match-grade, feel better, etc.? Aside from the better safety (which should've been included in the factory gun anyway) and the switchable grip, personally I'm not sure if this would be worth the investment. If the manufacturer could make a lower that extends the forearm... maybe?

Also, what kind of aftermarket muzzle devices can this thing take? What kind of shop work do you have to do to make your SHM fit?

And Lugar: show us some pics after you mount your Vortex. I've been hearing good things about it, and I'm sure it'll look really slick! This rifle with the right bling really does make it look like a utilitarian scifi infantry weapon of the future. This video showing a Gen2 with a Mepro MOR looks great too.

Here's hoping for a Gen 3?

This is probably one of the best threads ive seen on CGN, really awesome photos... I really want a t97!! I love that the shorty has what would effectively be a built in low key suppressor. But I understand its main purpose is flash hiding. Very cool.
