The T97 Thread!

Anyone have a cool paint job on their T97?? Let’s see them!

Just got back. The white on the polymer back cover was yellowing so I updated.

Can you show a picture with the bipod folded?

I'll try and remember to take a good one.

Just got finished making a press fit adapter for a flash hider. Then because I didn't feel like having a useless flash hider around, I threaded it and made a thread adapter to use it if I wanted to. I didn't torque anything down as I'm out of crush washers. Just thought I'd share another way you can have a different flash hider without threading your barrel.

I only did it this way because my lathe couldn't hold the barrel without me having to bash the gas block off. So I found a work around.

Next up, an attempt at a bolt release/manual hold open.

Pretty cool. I’ve wanted to make a bolt release forever but don’t have the equipment.

Holy crap Shawn, that gunmetal grey looks freaking awesome. What was your process in painting it?

Just wanna say thanks too for all the T97 related stuff you do on Youtube, I found a bunch of your videos when I became interested in this gun. Especially your reliability/teardown video. Definitely made me feel confident in the firearm. Probably getting one of these as my first 5.56 rifle. Cheers!

Sorry if this was already asked/answered, but is the solution to occasional "bullet pushed into case jamming the rifle" to actually file down/sand down the feed ramp in the gen1 rifles?

You would be better off first:
1) Testing different magazines, as the vast majority of the time, you will be able to find a magazine that runs perfectly.
2) Then possibly doing a small bit of sanding in your mag well if you are not able to get certain mags in there to test (provided you still have not found any that are 100 percent reliable).
3) Then potentially modifying the feed ramps.

Sensible suggestions.
At the moment I only really get one such malfunction every 100-150 rounds, so the reliability of the mags (especially with my D&H USGI mags) I use are fairly good. By most accounts, this seems to be a fairly low rate of malfunction for a T97 it would seem

I really enjoy it. Wish I could take credit for the colour job but it was all Frank at Cerakote BC. It’s “Cerakote Elite Concrete”.

Glad you enjoy. I just enjoy working with the T97 :)

One day when money isn’t so tight I need to get around to an uncut gen 1 and a gen 2 to have all I need.
