The T97 Thread!

Hello guys !

I recently bought a T97 with FTU and LHG.

I have a little problem with the oversized mag release button coming with the LHG. When pressed, the left side latch moves and get stuck in the receiver. Resulting not locking mags anymore. Anyone else having this problem ?

Also, is mag release paddles worth it ?

Isn't the T97 too heavy for a single point ? Tried to run with one and got seriously bruised on the knee by my muzzle.

Yeah, if you clip it to your buttplate sling mount, which is not how single points are supposed to be connected. Check the link, its a sling mount that replaces the push-pin behind the pistol grip.

In Quebec you get frowned upon when taking part in a cqb match with a t-97. In fact I'm not sure but I think you get frowned upon if you don't compete with an AR.

Is it the same in the west of the country?

I own both and like them both for different reasons but my T-97 would be my go-to rifle if sh.. was going to hit the fan. Never had a failure with mine now that I know she likes pmags. And she is as precise as my AR at 100 yards. Granted my mag changes takes 3 seconds instead of 1 but still...

What do you think Canada?

What kind of groups are you guys getting with your T97 s ? Best I could get was 5 inch at 100 with a trs 25 red dot and American eagle . Haven't tried better ammo yet . Put on a new strike eagle 1-6 hoping I can do better now .

With a scope at 100 yards im usually around:

Norinco 3-5"
AE 2-3"
Tulammo 1.5-3"
Hornady 69gr match 1.5"-2"

Few lucky groups with better but I don't consider 1 off groups to mean much.

I believe this was asked here before, but I couldn't find any real answer... does anyone know if / where one could find an "original" scope mount for this rifle? I mean, something that was designed for that weird handle rail. I think I saw something online a couple years ago, but for the love of me can't find any info anymore.

Alternatively, anyone has any experience with a see-through rail that would not require any modification to the rifle (non-FTU) while still allowing disassembly?

Thanks!

The guy that was selling scopes for the rifle I heard was arrested for taking Chinese military scopes from warehouses, heresay on the internet though so who knows if it is true.

The bolt on rail mounts will return to zero if taken off the chinese rail for disassembly, however there arent any that can stay on during disassembly.

Anyone have a good solution for the FTU charging handle being a bit sticky from plastic on surface contact?

Was thinking of trying graphite along it.

I have a reciprocating charging handle bolted to it that is so nice and smooth in comparison. I'd also like to try and make the reciprocating handle quick detach so I don't need any tools for disassembly. If I could get an ambi reciprocating handle I like, I'd be okay with completely removing the FTU non reciprocating handle.

Hi Fellas

The T97 arrived and the T97.Ca goodies have been installed. :dancingbanana:
But I have a question, I have three LAR-15 red top mags, they fit into the mag well just fine but the don't seem to seat so that the mag catch actually clicks into place. Anyone have this issue and were you able to resolve it?

Thanks!

I'm not clear on what you are asking, Can you clarify your sticky question? Mine doesn't seem to be sticky.

I wouldn't say really sticky... just more resistant than pulling the one attached right to the bolt carrier. Noticibly more. And it's just a low friction sliding surface for the non reciprocating handle.

I only have orange follower LAR mags. They function great, but are tight, had to work the spine of the mags a bit.
