The T97 Thread!

Does anybody have proper cleaning & lubricating instructions? Need help

Takedown instructions are in the manual, pretty easy and straightforward. The bore, like any other, blast everything with carb cleaner and you're done (don't forget the gas tube). Trigger pack, recoil spring and striker get a blast of silicone lube, the bolt/carrier/rail get some gearbox oil or grease depending on the mood.

I'd be concerned with getting hung up on something and then a button clasp opens...

They're not buttons, one screws into the other. The leather is more likely to give way.

All i have is brake clean and any lube/oil you can find in a shop here at work.

That'll do. Many people lube their AR's with synthetic motor oil. I got a quart of the gearbox oil for my Shadow as the grease was getting cooked off and some very experienced guys were using the Ipone stuff on theirs for years. Since then, it became my go-to general lubricant. Brake cleaner will do for cleaning, but I like using carb cleaner as it's gentler on plastics and rubber and I don't just use it on my guns.

Hey guys don't mean to side step this ,,but I want to put an front grip on the t 97 ,not sure if I'm gonna go with a folding pistol ,or an angled ,,or the new pototoe style,,which my irish is leaning towards lol...anyways ,there is that great pic t97.ca has on their site ,the rifle is in front of a wood pile and has a trs25 and new ftu,,it also has an angled forearm on it,,and I'm wondering how it was attached....ie did he use a picatinny mount, then add a riser,,and did he drill thru the hash marked part of grip or just on the tapered flat spot in front of it....I have looked @ these pics for like two hours and I cant see the details....anyone got any ideas how he did this...or if u did this give me wee bit o help of ya don't mind.....cheers

I was thinking of getting the upgraded alum upper and installing a Burris MTAC 1-4x28mm Scope. Does anybody have any input as it if this will be a good combo? With the eye relief being so long will there be a problem with mounting it to a rifle with such a short barrel? Not short but short because of the bullpup config.

I mounted a section of rail to the handguard...just forward above the cocking handle. Used a tasco red dot. Will have to do until i get the upper. If i get the upper...i will try my burris mtac

I have a t97 on order & should be in next week. BUT first thing I want to do is replace the charging handle. I cannot start working on machining aluminum to fit the 6mm hole through the two "ears" and existing plastic handle until I know 1. The total width from outside of one ear to outside of the other and 2 the thickness of the plastic handle where it fits between the two ears.

I am planning on putting a washer between the two ears that will give me resistance to a screw in aluminum handle with self locking nut.

Probably try to get a bit of angle on the charging handle as well, similar to what is on the Travor.

Anyone out there with a caliper that could give me the measurements?

Thanks, Phil in Waterloo

Looks great! Anyway to mount a scope beside the ftu? I want to be able to use the iron sights for most shooting and a scope for long range, maybe like a see through rail or something. Like scopes but tend to use iron sights more and don't want to cut em off.

I was thinking about getting some low pro offset iron sight so I can always use them as backup

Hey fellas I'm not new to the site but I really haven't posted much. I bought a t97 last week and I love it! I ordered a FTU off t97.ca but I never got any shipping or even a order confirmation. It's been 3 days now so it's stressing me out considering it's $360. Has anyone else ordered one of these and received it without any emails or anything? Would be nice to hear. Thanks!
