The TAVOR

I'll be hosting the TORONTO Tavor Demo tentatively scheduled for SAT Sept 15, 2007.

I can either do it at BRRC or Silverdale - I'm thinking Silverdale since anybody can show up and it's outdoor. More info coming soon.....

BRRC has the advantage of being out of the elements (granted, not much rain this year) and really, really close to my home :)

If you book the range for an event, then anyone can attend, just as though it were a match.

Have a look at the odplonline.org events calendar - a lot of your customer s will be at those shoots, so you'll want to work around them.

i was wondering if the Tavor accepts AR15 barrels. so if you really wanted to you could replace it with a Match barrel or something along those lines.

guess it was wishful thinking :)

id guess a heavyer match barrel would have a hard time fitting down the length of the stock. unless it had a large area around it to be a floating barrel.

*sigh* i really hope this gun stays available long enough for me to get one. but it could be a while lol. got a baby on the way, and crappy jobs. *sigh* so many things i ... "need" so little money.

I had a chance to shoot a service rifle match (50m) today with the Tavor, I agree with Shazam's & Sniper1 post.

It balances very well, the weight being between the shoulder and support arm makes it very nice to hold (not front heavy).

Follow-up shots are real quick.

Mag operations need some getting use to, but got pretty easy after a few operations, like any new firearm a learning curve is required.

Everybody who did a test shoot of it today loved it.

I would like to replace the Meprolight with a magnified scope and really see how well it shoots, the Mepro gives a very good sight picture but lacks magnification and if you don't like the Trijicon Reflex well this is the same. For fun shooting outside I actually like the fiber optic light source design but it does have it's limitations.

Overall a very nice rifle and the shell looks tough making it a "trunk" gun that I would not worry about dinging, like a Glock it ain't pretty but rather a working gun.

Big plus, for an 18+ inches barreled gun, it is short, combine that with the 10 round mags and it being non-restricted makes for a great buy. Oh and for the Wendy comment, it eats 10 babies per day which gives it better mileage than the average Hummer.

Thanks to Canada Ammo for making this gun available

I just read some comments about the sights life expectency...

The sight uses a fiber optic coil to gather ambiant light and this will work forever....same as the Trijicon Reflex.

The tritium is only required when no light source is illuminating the sight.. ie in total darkness. Tritium has a half life of 12 years as explained.

Don't confuse the tritium source with the normal light source for the sight.

The tip of the fiber optic glows because of the light it gathered, the tritium cell is at the inner end of the fiber optic, so if no light is gathered you will still see the dot. The dot you see in the sight window is a reflexion of the second end of the fiber optic, the sight window acts as a mirror and thus you see the dot.

Yes ... we did ;-)
I actually fired only 10rds, but furet, who shot several hundred told me about is "Tavor mark".
It's because of the ejection port being so close to the right side of your face. You get quite some carbon spots on your right cheek after prolonged shooting session... that also depends on the type of cheek weld you adopt on the Tavor.

You'll just have to make it to MilCun during the OSA 3 gun to determine whether or not your #### will be safe.

Can I have my TAvor in...

Can I have my tavor in 9mm please :) :)
