The TAVOR

I think people should stop tinkering with their TAVOR s if they had been slam firingand doubling - it is just dangerous.

Leave it in the safe until the modified bolt has arrived. The potential liability is just not worth it -and as CGN admin, I really do not want to hear people to "suggest" more homemade remedy, and then next day someone put a hole through his own leg or a hole into place where bullets are not supposed to be going.

Change of topic slightly

After using the Tavor for about 800 rounds, I finally manage to get somewhat decent grouping with the MEPRO sight.
50 m - 1 to 1.5 in group
75 m - 3-4 in group
100 m - still working on it but it is about 7 in group

MEPRO is good for human size target. I will try 200 m and see what happen - just need to print a bigger bullseye.

The Tavor is a combat rifle with a combat optic. Don't expect to win any precision matches.

I've made my own riser this week. Using two YHM mini-riser and a Hahn Precision riser rail. I Had a few hassles with the tavor rails but it looks real nice now ! I've put an ACOG to see what its like. I don't think the BDC can match correctly at the height.

Pictures will come as soon as I get the digital cam.

I just spoke with IWI.

All future Tavors shipped will have new bolts to accommodate an upgraded firing pin with a spring to allow use with soft primered cartridges.

These will be ready in 3 months.

This kinda thing is expected, I would bet we are one of the first civilian markets to be pruchasing the Tar21. Having said that, over the next year or two what other upgrades will we see? maybe a 1:9 twist barrel for the 55g ammo????

CanAM - Not giving you a hard time as once the TAR21 gets its initial bugs worked out I plan to purchase one (along with a few other guns from ya & ammo for the TAR21). Only thing that I might also be interrested in is a better trigger.... a friends dad has one and BOY-Oh-BOY that is not a friendly trigger....

TYC have you been ableto test the 62 Gr ammo yet?

I appreciate your reports!!!!!!!

Yes. i already got some 62 GR Ammo on hand now.
But little busy on the july. also .i need to change my gun club on this month too.
so. just wait a right time to carry on my ammo test,
Cheer..

Agreed but it is still interesting to see what grouping can be achieved.

Took it out yesterday and tried out my Leupold 1-4x scope. After finally getting things set up (Thanks for the help Tyc), I was getting 2" groups at 50 yards with 10 shots.

Going out to 100, I was able to get average 5 shot groups of 2.5 inches, and a best group of about (I didn't measure precisely) 1.5 inches.

I'm still a little frustrated with the trigger. It's heavy. Way too heavy, but somewhat expected with a bullpup design. Personally, with a lighter trigger, or a more skilled shooter (I am not a marksman by any stretch of the imagination), I see it getting under MOA.

Hi,

What do you use to attach the 1-4x scope? How do you like the 1-4x setup from close quarter target aquisition to distance shooting say 200-300 yards? Which reticle did you choose?

I am thinking a similar setup so I would like to get your opinion.

I posted a pic in the Tavor Pic section. I used 1 (Tyc used two) riser rail. I had to modify it. I then used medium rings. The clearance between the scope and the rear backup iron sight is a millimeter. It works. I do have a Arms 63 should I require the extra height in the future.

Close quarter target acquisition is excellent. At 1x (which is not truly 1x, it's closer to 1.25), using both eyes open is very easy. Almost as easy as a dedicated red-dot.

Shooting longer ranges is as easy as a twist of the wrist. At 4x, with the great Leupold glass, it works well. I didn't shoot at 200, but did target the Gong (I was limited in shooting yesterday with time constraints).

In a couple of weeks, I'll get back to Silverdale and give 200 an honest try.

I was using a duplex reticle. Not the greatest choice, but definitely sufficient.

Actually we are the only market with little or no access to the proper ammo, hence the change. I wouldn't have done it otherwise. I don't expect any further changes going forward.

well i dont know what to say, maybe i should start with apologizing canam. i am sorry about the post that i did. i guess i did jump the gun. the slam fire one you know. it did happen but the rifle was not break in and i sould have know. mil spec rifle will cause prblem with civi round. i should have know. now you have all the rifles that cant be sold until new bolts show up at your shop. i know a little bit about firearms business and secure storage space is primum for business. i am sorry. well back to the brighter side of story. i love this rifle, since start reloading with the magnum primer, no problem and to be honest, i dont know how you guys still can shoot car-15. i dont want to get in detail but everything is far better with this rifle. i had c8,c7,sig550,m4, mini14, g36, ar180 and m1 carbine. tar21 is most enjoyable rifle i ever had. i know this sound like axx kissing but other than sig 550 (which is great rifle just god awful long and really hard to clean but with a great trigger) tar 21 is a great all around rifle. (maybe need a lighter trigger but i am happy)i been at range every day until this friday,(lethbridge range is the best one ever). i went trough about 1000 round and able to do 2 ins group at 100 yr with open sight. what can possibly you want to ask for a rifle.try that with car-15.
