The TAVOR

I would just tell these people to STFU. Its not like you brought a full-auto to the range.

:50cal:

I had that when I first brought my VZ58 to the range. I got Mr.a$$ from another range telling not to bring my "prohibs" to the range or the range would shut down.

I told him to get lost and that I knew the owner of the range would be around at any moment.
Sure enough it was all solved rather quickly and asshat was told to leave for good after he blew away the pistol range with a shotgun.
About 20 others came all with their military stuff and I had the best shoot I have ever had.
It was like x-mas day except it was warm and sunny, there were birds in the air and rounds going down range. It was beautiful. :)
There was even a cop and 2 military guys with F/A stuff. We all tried each others stuff. :D
:sniper::sniper::sniper::sniper::sniper::shotgun:

Moral of the story, it is your duty to tell asshats to STFU

Well DemoDude stopped by with his Tavor and I put about 70 rounds through it.

My impression was it was very comfortable to shoot and operate.

Mag changes felt strange at first but after the third mag there were no problems. I found mag changes to be about on par with the M4 I brought.

Back up sights looked funny but worked well and the EoTech he had mounted on his Tavor worked well with it.

So, when is the next batch arriving?

ISRAEL - SEPTEMBER 25: In this handout photo provided by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), Israeli army general Gadi Shamni tries out the first operational Micro-Tavor, the IDF's new assault rifle September 25, 2008 at an army base in Israel. The Micro-Tavor, which is being introduced into infantry units this week, is the scaled down version of the Tavor, both of which were developed by Israeli Military Industries as the next-generation standard Israel infantry weapon. Both are bullpup assault rifles chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition and have a selective fire system.

I like the rail setup and the Mepro MOR much better. It also put the magazine release right at the tip of the finger!!! Tha't improvement - in addition to the removal of the "thick" butt plate.

I will consider putting my order back-in if this is available instead of the standard offering.

I was ecxited for a moment to hear that the T97 had a manageable mag release, then I realized this was the tavor thread. :(

So when is CanAm getting the Micros in?

What's the barrel length on this? looks around 12ish. What's the overall length?
Hot looking rifle!

Looking at this VS the Norc 97 Shorty I notice right away that the Norc has the gas booster/flash suppressor attachment and the Tavor does not. The more I shoot it the more I appreciate it even though it looks like a ducks a$$ (take a look at the vid in red rifles). It really helps to reduce the flash signature and supposedly increases reliability.

An interesting excerpt from an article on the Galil:

While the method of operation is identical to the Kalashnikov, Soviet AK-47 parts most certainly cannot be used in the Galil, contrary to the statements of others. When the trigger is pulled, the hammer drives the firing pin forward to ignite the primer. Kalashnikovs have inertia firing pins without a spring. The initial lot of Galils brought into this country also had no firing pin springs. Military primers have hard cups, not easily touched off. American commercial ammunition, Winchester in particular, has relatively soft primer cups. The Winchester ammo caused several slam-fires and all Galils offered for sale in the United States have now been fitted with strong firing pin springs. If yours does not, have it retrofitted before firing commercial ammunition.

Id consider getting this setup as well or a Tavor without the mepro .

I called CanAm last week and was told sometime in Oct. They are still waiting on paperwork.
My Tavor was doubling more often than not but it was suggested to me to grease up the bolt instead of oiling and it is working out quite well. About 400rds over the last couple of days and no more surprises. Still looking forward too the new bolt.

Cheers
Jeff

A few points of BS there - I was shown that AK and Galil parts are most certainly interchangeable - the bolt carrier, recoil spring assembly and bolt are a straight-up swap, as is the hammer. Trigger and safety is slighly different....some Norinco's also had a firing pin spring, but not the original AK....

Just wondering: for the guys that are having issues with doubles....are you using a lot of UMC ammo? The other thread where they guy had the bolt stuck had been using UMC. In my experience the stuff is crap and VERY dirty...just a thought.

Tavor

Mine runs great with winchesters and of course with RUAG, but this stuff (RUAG) STINKS! That's the only drawback I had found of this rifle, the gas flow make my right eye cry each time I shoot it!:runaway:

I've had the same smell from the IVI C77 must be the same powder on the RUAG or something.
