"forward assist" using an empty case LOL. Ok sure

I'm trying to picture someone doing that while on the clock in an IPSC rifle competition.

Also trying to picture someone doing that while getting shot at by enemy soldiers.

Both scenarios seem quite comical.

I always have an empty case chained to the rifle specifically for such use-cases. Also there are hammer and screwdriver on the same chain. Very convenient. I thought everyone does this.

P.S. However overall it looks Templar is progressing. I like what I'm seeing.

.. and then I recalled where I have seen this "spent case" trick.

TEMPLAR -Short Barrel Upper - by Crusader Arms

Steve from Crusader Arms launches their new Templar Short barrel Upper, allowing you to swap out your existing upper to accommodate a lighter easier to wield platform.

No mention of the actual barrel length?

No mention of how much weight savings?

These things would be nice to know.

2000rd update on the Templar. At around 1800rds I had my first failure-I had the Templar out this past weekend and put 200rds through it, with the first 10rd mag I had a FTF (see pic) it just required a quick working of the charging lever. No other issues and ended the day with a little over 2000rds now down range on the Templar. I didn't do any 100m shooting just 25m stuff. Next report at 2500rds.

Interesting. I had that on a few rounds when my receiver plate was loose. Hopefully just a one off for you. Worth checking those fasteners though...

Does anyone have a gen2 yet? I know they got rid of that silly plate on the revised design.

What is this part called, that goes just behind the 2 springs? Is it plastic or metal in the wk180?

Thank you

Maybe someone can help me troubleshoot a trigger problem...

I replaced the stock trigger in my templar with a geissele trigger.
It feels soooo good. But I am having trigger reset issues.

If you pull the trigger all the way, and hold it there while it cycles, the trigger will not reset.
However, if you only pull about half way it will reset the trigger.

Has anyone come across this, or perhaps care to share any solutions?

Hey all, would just like to report a Templar failure. This isnt something I believe to exclusive of the Templar, but that could happen to any Ar180 variant rifle.

I have sent my email regarding a warranty claim, to both CrusaderArms and Spectre a week ago, but have yet to hear a reply.

The rifle has less than 500 rounds through it of majoritvely PMC 55gr factory and roughly 50 or so Remington UMC 55gr factory ammunition.

The pin that retains the extractor arm to the bolt had walked out on my last range day shooting the afformentioned PMC ammunition. This caused the bolt to get hung up and slammed between the barrel and the BCG, resulting in a bent and non-repairable extractor pin.

While this is unfortanate, due both to the failure and having to wait for so much as a confirmation "we have aknoledged and get back to you on how to procede" reply, as I have mentioned, do not believe this to only be a possiblity to affect the Templar

I forgot to mention the reason i havent just ordered an aftermarket pin. I believe that the bolt, or extractor has become damaged/ deformed due to how little resistance is required to install the portion of the pin that remains straight.

Id recommend that anyone with this rifle inspects the pin or bolt for damage

I had this happen on an issued HK G36. Rifle kept running but it bent the extractor axel. Turns out the extractor axel didn't have the correct peening on one end.

It happens.

Does anyone have a Gen 2 to give their thoughts on? I've spent a day looking at all the 180 options with reviews and it's some murky water out there.
I had an MCR and although very accurate overseating of mags and not being able to be run on Pmags made me sell it.

I tried 2 Timney triggers that functioned perfectly in a Kodiak WK180, MCR, and JR 9mm….both had issues resetting in the Templar. I gave up and installed a Triggertech Duty trigger that solved the issue.

Ive seen a couple for sale by dealers down east online, but no reviews yet.
I wonder how the company is doing as they aren't great communicators

I just received mine. Having seen some negative feedback , I bought this with little expectations. Surprise: I am very pleased so far! I was expecting fit and finish to on the low side. I guess they fired their bad machinist and put in place some QC measures. Gun was test fired before leaving the shop.

In my opinion, all the changes made to the Gen 2 bring this product to maturity:

-Pencil barrel make a huge difference in weight in comparison to most Canadian NR rifle which are often derived from DMR versions making them front heavy.
-3rd recoil spring: I really feel the bolt going positively into battery.
-AR Style bolt stop / release: Prevent over insertion of mag and is more intuitive to the "AR manual of arms" used person.
-Bent charging handle: Love it. Angle is perfect for manipulation, allows to do the "HK slap" without interfering with optics.
-Internal plate: Looks slicker
-Forward assist grooves: Nice to have, but I never force a round in the chamber. But the grooves can easily be used just with the thumb. Using a cartridge or empty case is very common among firearm design. (AR-15: use of cartridge to set sight and dissasemble, B&T: Forward assist, Type 81: Adjust the gas system, FN 49/ Fal: Remove gas plug/piston...)

The only downside with ordering this rifle is customer service. Their Online order page don't work and you have to sent them the info via E-mail (Made me unsecure). Then they seldomly respond to E-mail. The rifle showed up to my door without me knowing that it was in transit.

In my opinion, to improve a bit, Crusader have to realize that the average Gunnutz is an emotional critter. The Gunnutz don't care for wait times or caveats as long as it is stated up front and that they know what to expect.

My 2c

Mem
