The Templar Thread, 5.56 by Crusader Arms / Spectre LTD

I have a Burris RT-6 1-6x LPVO on Burris PEPR rings and a Burris Fast Fire 3 on a 45 offset mount on my Crusader 9. I mounted a Magpul QD m-lok mount at the front left m-lok and replaced the rear buffer tube plate with Magpul ASAP QD ambi sling mount.

Magpul MBUS back up iron sights.

Be aware that there is a possibility of interference with your optic, depending on the mount you choice, with the HK-style charging handle.

My RT-6 with the PEPR mount just squeaks by in front of the handle. I think the Crusader Sentinel upper and the Templar are almost identical, so you're likely to run into the same issue depending on the eye relief you're going for and the mount.

Yay got my Templar. Can’t figure out how to upload pics. Everything looks good to me with no machining marks. Can someone share the link to the manual?

Not sure where the manual is, but here is a guide on how to paste your image into Imgur, and then get a forum-friendly link to paste into your post: https://www.mineplex.com/threads/unofficial-how-to-add-an-image-to-the-forums-using-imgur.227001/. One additional step I recommend is either pre-shrinking your photos to a forum friendly resolution, or changing the Imgur link by adding a lower case "L" between the name of the image file in the link and its extension; so , for example ImageName.png becomes ImageNamel.jpg ; this automatically drops the resolution to a more forum-friendly one. I would recommend not adding the images to your Imgur profile; that way no one can report or tag them.

Or ask the mods. It may mean having to support this site by becoming a paid member that gives you the ability to post pictures uploaded directly from your computer..

Ok thank you very much for the info.

Glad to hear it arrived! PM myself or Macpapronin and we can email you the pdf.

Did it come with the triggertech installed?

Now I'm itching more than ever for mine to arrive!

I'm curious on groups. Been seeing 1.75inches at 100 with PMC 77 stuff and 2.1inches with norma 77 stuff which is marginally better but not worth the cost against 62 grain stuff which its doing fine at 2.5 inches with flyers and 1.5 without. I'm curious if it's the barrel quality or chambering in 5.56. I wonder if barrel fluting and rebluing can be done on the cheap to shave off a few grams.

This is the video with the most information so far. I'm not sure about other, non-video sources:

Mind you, his technique and method are not terribly scientific, and he could probably get better results with match ammunition. He's shooting generally with lower grade ammunition.

You could try to shave off a few grams, but it's always going to be heavier than even the heavier M4/AR15 platforms. I think people just have to accept that AR-180-based firearms will generally be heavier.

That matches with what I saw. I did not see an improvement with the triggertech vs the regular trigger. But apparently it's much nicer to use. I don't think better triggers are worth it unless you plan to run in competitions which is the case with the one I've been seeing. It's like $300. That's probably... 500 rounds?

This is true about the weight. But it would probably be worth stripping off as much as possible to make it easier for match stages. Assuming you're looking to improve scores and times. I don't think the rifle is quite there for running PRS matches if it can't hold 1 inch. But the weight would be an advantage for the PRS comps in stabilizing on cades.

The TriggerTech trigger is very, very nice. With the exception of a few extremely high-end tricked out precision rifles I've used on rifles owned by others, it's the cleanest, crispest trigger I've used on a rifle. I was shooting mine and my friend offered to let me try out the factory trigger on his X95. Night and day.

I don't know enough about precision shooting to make an informed decision, but for me as a casual shooter and new owner, I'm really enjoying it.

It looks like it has the triggertech trigger. I haven’t pulled out the trigger group yet but is all adjustable so guessing it’s the triggertech lol

That matches what I've seen with 75gr loads. It's still worth it to run the heavier stuff if shooting at distance as 62s suck in the wind but for close range drills and stuff, might as well stick with 55s or 62s.
