I don't know if these are "in the field", ie:warfare , but possibly with LE departments
Flat heads , DEEP slotted ones would have been okay if proper material/hardening present. It was not on the stocks I assembled. I had to use extra care so as to not mar the screw heads
Also, the first Troys most beneficial feature, was its barrel retaining/dampening block which they completely omitted on the new version.
Also, the sight ear top rail mounting screws, deep socket allen type, on original version were machined untapered and fit inside the elevation and windage ears of the receiver.... The new version uses standard grade, standard depth, tapered machine screws, insufficiently hardened and a poor choice over the original.
Hey, they make a very nice product, I'm just giving an honest and educated review
You can spend the money on something that improves you rig or just simply makes it feel and look cool.

My tests show the Gen 2 shoots poorly as well - the front end is to loose -
I have a Gen II TROY M14 MCS inbound
I am aware of this problem (why do you thing I have so many SAGE EBR stocks?) anyway...
I think I will go with the shortest barrel possible to compensate for the looseness.
The SOCOM has always been at it's very best in the TROY... not an option north of the border though.

And this is why I bought a stock from the DOCTOR can't trust things that look to good to be true (VLTOR). Thanks M14Doctor.I am stiil not sold on the JAE. In fact, I have seen many issues now with these stocks while fitting to both M1A and chinese variants.
The receiver lock tabs are a novel idea but the real issue I am finding is at the stock ferrule. More often than not the ferrule face contacts firmly against the gas band... Very bad
And at the same time no contact between bottom of ferrule and gas band lip.... Also very bad
For the money they go for..... What exactly are you paying for. A funky shape, cool grip, adjustable cheekrest and a few rails... And the proprietory receiver locking tabs.
The JAE is Not for me...LOL
Nice piece of kit if you can get proper fit up... A nightmare if not
