Think Our Black Rifle Laws Suck? The Full-Auto Dream

Yep, ending the requirement for ATTs follows the same infallible logic as ending the LGR.

Anyone have stats on how much wasteful effort is performed by the provincial CFOs issuing ATTs.

Any crimes known to have been prevented by an ATT being issued?

:bangHead:

FYI its not $600 for a F/A SBR, and Suppressor.
Any F/A can have any barrel length on it, SBR regulations do not apply to Registered Machine Guns.

So your 10.5" M16 is only $200, not $400 as you seem to allude above.

You can get converted guns for a lot less, and there are still a lot of MG's around for under 2K.

Of course if you want a NIB transferable COLT gun - you could pay upwards of $30K, but its only money right?

Great write up.

Now look up the goofy rules for the state of Californigh-yeah.

at least we can still drop our mags with a push of a button.... and on and on and on.

Unfortunately, the recent high cap mag useage will drive more restrictions into some states. If the Dems return to office, look out.

I have had the pleasure of shooting full auto. As was said earlier, it was fun and I can say I have "been there, done that" but it got boring real fast.

especially when you have a hard time keeping bullets on a big target, not far away. Shooting an AK is kind of a unique experience.

For a little over $200 US and an hour on a bus, visit Vegas and have some fun.

the staff I had were horrid, most of the guns worn and rightly considered dangerous, but they went bang often and lead went down range.

You want to talk about "operator wannabe's...". NASTY...

What I do want is a FN P90 with a bunch of 50rd mag, suppressed and targets to plink at. Now that is a toy worth spending money on.

Jerry

PS those scanners do a great job of GSR, at least in Vegas. And the agents happened to be great "gun guys" too. Fun...

Machine guns you say?

Are you talking AKesque or 1919esque?

For me, the biggest factor is that you have the option to pursue whatever you want. Live in a state with more restrictive laws? You have the option to move to a state with different laws/views.

Even if there are new laws implemented at the federal level it is unlikely that they will be sweeping prohibitions. If certain guns/issues are important to you, you can always move to a state that will allow you to pursue what matters to you.

In Canada, the political landscape means that more laws tend to be uniform across the country. One election could see the end of firearms ownership (or changes in other issues) across the board, regardless of where you choose to live.

Yes, I did discover that after the fact in the course of further research - but appreciate you pointing that out. I actually didn't think the $400 for a suppressed FA (vs. the original $600) was the limiting factor, rather - it was the $10-$12k for a DIAS/AR15 and the whole fingerprint in the national database thing that kind of turned me off (mostly the $$, though).

I'm sure there are lots of machine guns. I'm kind of partial to the AR15 platform, though. It's only money... to a point. ;)

Every state in the United States has better gun laws than us. The reason why they do is because in any state in the US you can go buy a firearm for the express purpose of defending your life and liberty. Yes they may have silly laws but the fundemental right to defence using a firearm is still respected.

Heck even the states with silly laws have better laws than us. For example in California you can buy 30 round magazines, they just have to be pre ban manufacture. Also in California you may take your handgun essentially where you want, you may open carry it loaded without a permit in unincorperated areas, and if you live in one of many interior counties it is not difficult to get a CCW permit. You may also continue to own and use pre ban "assault weapons". Oh and you may have a loaded handgun on hand in your home should you need it to defend yourself.

Now that is one of the worst states. In Arizona, a resident may go buy a handgun if you pass a instant background check, buy a holster, buy some ammo, and then proceed to carry that firearm openly or concealed for self protection without asking the government for permission. You may also buy AKs, ARs, FALs, SCARs, and every other kind of "military style semi automatic" without any license, and you may also buy all the normal and high capacity mags you want. If you want to, if you have the money, in a period of about six months (or less), you can all the scilencers, SBRs, SBSs, and pre 86 full autos you want. Plus when your defenition of an SBR is not less than 18" barrel length and instead is less than 16" which may also include the length of a permanent flash hider SBRs are far less needed or wanted. Also when it comes to machine guns(and other NFA items) when you legally own one you may take it anywhere in the state and shoot it at a range, on private property and wherever else it is legal to discharge a firearm.

You want to know the really messed up thing, in my own country I am not allowed to carry a modern handgun to defend my life, in the United States with one simple ATF form and a hunting license, I am allowed to carry a handgun for defense in 27 states without a permit, despite the fact that I am a non citizen who is not a resident of the country.

Do not ever accept that our laws are; good, just, reasonable or legitimate. Our laws deprive us of our natural rights and are offensive to the very ideas of liberty and freedom.

I have to agree; that would be a lot of fun. ;)

With the possible exception of say California or New York. I'm not saying our laws are better; I was just trying to illustrate the point that some of the things we covet for black rifles are also denied to many Americans as well.

Maybe in my lifetime.

Norinco can come with a happy switch for pretty cheap, we can only hope :)

at least if we brought back bring back prohib license availability there wouldnt be some arbitrary date on manufacture.

of course I could also win the lotto

but it is a very good topic that blax brings up, especially since we see how CRAPPY it is in california, state level gun laws there with the button mags, and so on, mirror us here with quebec trying to keep the LGR data and keep that thing going.

I think maybe gun nutz should just try to out breed out the antis,

so make sure you take someone new to the range

Yes, but then we'd have a "Norc vs. Colt Full-Auto" thread going. ;) I think if we can get some ATT restrictions lifted, it'll be a lot easier to get more people into black rifles. And with enough people, anything's possible...

Why do you need a handgun to defend yourself in the city?
Sure, handguns are good to use for self defense in the wilderness.

We can only dream about conceal carry/open carry in Canada because of how our law is(charter of rights).
