Thureon Defense 10mm Review/Pics/Chrony Results! (AKA My Very First KB!!)

Yesterday was shopping for a scope at a big Mtl store and the manager come to me and say, your are the one that shoot that 10mm carbine, yes i said, i recieved this week 2K of those UMC 180 gr 10mm ( they shoot great in my TD) so i bought them all, guess less popular caliber will still go tru from the US of A, got ammo for the summer, on the other hand for my brother 45 TD not a round was left to buy, pity... JP.

The 10mm is not a "boutique" cartridge it is the best factory cartridge available for semi-auto handguns it can do everything the others can and everything they can't.

What was the issue with it is to many LEO's/FBI couldn't handle the recoil so the FBI requested a reduced power/velocity load for these limp wristed professionals.

The death blow was S&W saw that they could shorten the brass/load and come up with the same reduced ballistics that the FBI was looking plus these shorter loads fit in a 9mm size handgun.

Bonus is if you shoot 10mm semi-auto handguns like I do you can purchase aftermarket 40S&W barrels and shoot far cheaper factory 40S&W loads out of the same gun.

I will never sell my 10mm semi-auto's there is nothing else like them.

I have been reloading for 10mm's since early spring 1988.

:D

^^^ What are you going to do with all that brass?
I figured , i should have 4000 10mm brass by the end of the summer, mainly all Remington, gonna make a nice package and put it on the EE, ( i dont intend to reload for my Thureon, (@ 20.00 for 50, it is not worth it ) at this time i have no idea what these will be worth, in October they may worth a fortune or almost nothing, i will carry on from then... Cheers. JP.

The term "boutique" refers to small companies that offer manufactured/re-manufactured ammunition loads that are often specialized and not available in wide spread distribution.

Are you old enough to remember how the cartridge came to prominence? The 10mm hasn't been the commercial success its marketers had hoped but these carbines are certainly breathing new life into an otherwise relatively obscure cartridge.

.

Ok my mistake, I assumed cartridges from Buffalo Bore were a commercial/common 10mm round. And, no I was not old enough.... not even close, but I have tried to familiarize myself with the history, as I find it interesting. The Colt Delta Elite was the first beauty to catch my eye, but I would love one of the TD carbines, as long as I didn't need to fear a catastrophic failure. I love the idea of a semi auto pistol capable of shooting magnum speeds and weight.

Great site! Thank you for posting it.

It really is, if you read and comprehend the information it presents you can see why designing a straight blowback carbine chambered for a cartridge like the 10mm is no simple task. I doubt I will ever be shooting full pressure ammunition out of it safely.

I called EPPS and told them I would be returning my Thureon, I'm really disappointed with it to say the least. I expected it be reliable.

Let us know how this works out.
There was a long thread recently about Epps' policy that any new firearm warranty issues must be taken up with the manufacturer, not with them.

I would have a major issue if a store sold me a firearm and did not look after me if it immediately had issues.

Happened to me with Wholesale Sports once they have the same will not deal with an issue policy with a Rem 7400 carbine in 30-06 they had me send the rifle to my local gunsmith = Dlask Arms told them that the gun had major issues.

They shipped me a new rifle.

I know there been a thread on Epps and the return thing policy, but myself bought a rifle from them and there was a scratch on the muzzlebreak, no questions asked they just sended me another one paying all the shipping both way, for myself, i am very happy with the service... JP.

I got a chance to check out my new railed thureon 10mm today from armseast's latest shipment. I noticed some interesting differences compared to my round handgaurd model purchased from prophet river. First off the trigger group cutout is shaped differently, on top of that the regular carbine buffer found in the thureon that KBed is replaced with a much heavier XH buffer. I doubt that is coincidence. I am interested to see the solid steel buffer being shipped out to me directly from thureon.
