Tikka T3X Scope Mounting

I run Talley lightweights on my Tikka hunting rifles, and Talley picatinny rails on my Tikka CTR rifles with Burris XTR Signature rings

Well, I’d like to try out a new product, and I’m really not the biggest fan of how Talley’s look.

As much as I like the Talley LW's for my Tikka I can understand your opinion of them not looking the best. I find the bottom part of the ringmounts are too blocky for the size of the mounting surface. I picked up a set that were machined so they sit over top of the mounting part of action. Look much better IMO

EXACTLY!

I didn’t know they even made them to fit like that. That’s a definite improvement IMO. Where did you find those?

I don't recall to be honest. I believe there was a member on here who was doing the modification and selling them. I have 4 other sets I would love to have the same mod done on.

Ah, gotcha.

I work in a machine shop and have done this on several sets. It definitely looks better, but the material removed from the bottom can place the counterbore of the screw within a mm or so of breaking through the aluminum and makes a weaker product. I had an xbolt that I couldn’t love like a tikka, and talleys for it use 4 screws per ring and are spread out more. The talleys do well at holding the scope and adding minimal weight, but they are at the bottom rung for strength.

The leupold back country appear to be a little better fit and finish but are pricey. St9len image below:

That makes sense. The Leupold Backcountry rings look pretty good!

I used Burris 1 piece dove tail mounts for my Leupold Vx3i 3.5-10x40. I found even the low Optilocks too high and heavy. Make use of the dove tail system on those receivers. Burris part number 420135, ordered them from Precision Optics.

Personally, my go-to is a set of Burris X-Treme steel bases (part number 410630), paired with a set of plain ol' Burris Zee steel rings. Simple, and deadnutz reliable, and can be done in any height you need.

Used this set up on many T3s. They really are deadnutz reliable, just like to add they also have a nice clean trim look to them and are very reasonably priced.

Would you happen to have a part number?

This is what I installed on my last two Tikka rifles, for a hunting setup I feel this is the best option. I tried Talley, but there is too much left/right slop in them, my concern is you could easily damage a scope tube in my opinion.

I like the looks of these, but can’t find them in stock in Canada.

Having used the most common rings and bases combos (Talley LW, DNZ, STD, Weaver, etc.). I’m mostly using they talleys now. The DNZ offerings are pretty similar in weight and machined well, but they use unnecessarily long screws and look a tad more bulky. The talleys looks a lot sleeker and probably a good aesthetic match with the plain but sleek tikka

My three Tikka T3s wear Talleys .... Period :0)

I have 3 sets of Leupold bases, I'm in Edmonton- anyone here can have them for free for their Tikka. I have a couple sets of matte Low + High rings as well, dont like them, dont need them.

I have used Talley rings on my 270 and they work well. See photo of close up. Used a Swarovski on the 270 but on my 243 I used a Leupold VX6HD. Just do not have a photo. Worth considering as they are lightweight and solid.

Likewise Talley with a loop 3-9. The only loop I will own, simply because the rifle.is my father's last.
