Thought I would pipe in here and confirm the retail price on the Sub2000.
$675 CAD gentleman. Thought I would add that the U.S. suggested retail on them is $409 USD MSRP not $300.

In addition to the extra costs per unit for the longer barrels for the Canadian model, shipping costs to Canada, Brokerage fees, and a newer $250 USD Export Application Fee from the U.S. Department Of State, at $675 Retail nobody makes lots of money per unit on these gentleman. All Kel-Tec pricing is standardized for all Kel-Tec dealers across Canada.

Thanks
Steve

Im not saying that anyone is running up the prices and making alot of money on these but $675 dollars for a gun that I know sells for $375 is pretty steep!

Then there is the issue of all the accesories one needs to equip it with an optic and such.

I may still pick one up though but I don't know.

My Ruger 10/22 with the Tapco stock feels alot more solid, and will outshoot that thing any day.

Not being funny but doesn't the export license add $5 per rifle for an order of 50 rifles. I guess when you have a dealer missing the days when he could make near 1000% markup on some mags, then I'm not surprised Canadian consumers feel like they are getting the shaft and Canadian gun dealers feel like they don't make a profit in today's enviroment.

I was very interested in the sub 2000 but I am afraid that this is coming in a little steep for what equates to a 9mm plinker. Even as a non-restricted it is still a just a plinker that can be used to shoot cans in the woods instead of at the range. Might reconsider the Highpoint at half the price.

Good one! I think it was aimed at me, but you are missing the point that I was trying to make. With my historically most profitable deal everyone was very happy as they had great value for money. What I paid was irrelevant, it could have been $18 per mag, not $2, the key to success is not what we sell a product for but what we have to pay for it. We have had other lines that with hindsight, were hardly worth the effort but because we paid high, yet we were accused of ripping people off when in fact we were making less than 10%! I have had other deals when I have been ripped off, the product was junk and I had to sell below my cost, free enterprise has its ups and downs.

The people that get the first batch of SUBs better give us some sweet nutnfancy-style 2 hour youtube reviews in 720p quality.

Also I will never buy this for anything close to $700, $550 I can do. I can get a freaking M4 for $700 and this is NOT an M4.

Hi John,
I was careful not to name you in my original post because I'm not trying to throw you under the bus. My post was really trying to indicate that there is the possibility for a lot of dissatisfaction on both sides of the coin. Consumers see the going US price and then see the Canadian price. In this case 70% higher at MSRP levels. Distributors/importers feel like they have to jump through hoops to bring this stuff in. I don't really know the true cost of bringing in these weapons and don't really care to. It's not my business. I can see however that the current situation has little to recommend it for either side. Which is pretty much what you communicated in the second half of you Australian Mag post. Please don't feel like I was singling you out because I was not. I was being a little bit naughty as I only took a bit of your post to make my point. Obviously from your response I didn't make my point well enough.

700 bucks for a non-restricted rifle that takes 10 round magazines still sounds pretty good to me. I'll be buying one in the summer, or maybe the SU 16 by that time.

Thanks for finally getting kel-tecs into the country

Does the rifle come with a mag? I assume that keltec is not boxing these with a Glock mag as it is a rifle and we all remember the issues with the CX4!

Any plans to ship them with a Glock mag John?

The issue with some CX4 mags was having them factory marked "CX4" which made them rifle mags. There are no issues with using actual bona fide pistol mags i.e. 92 mags.
