Training Interest?

.......................BigRed and Reaper are more than qualified to run training in Canada.

Kev:

If this is truly the case, may I most strongly and respectfully that they need to get it all in a pile, soon, and get some intro carbine coursed started.

If I have to work some evenings to make a Canadian Export compliant gun - I will.

On that note the "new" HK resonates with this type of mentality.Maybe one of the ways to get a CDN compliant gun is to opt for the basic rifle less the the "bad" parts that the US had issues with? Most of us, usually add our own sights, hand guards, optics, stocks etc. It appears that one way might be to have a "pistol" version so that the barrel restriction may be overcome?

News Flash ----------OLD NEWS-------------:D

It is not a concern for companies like KAC ,McMillan Bros ,HK, FN that RNichols handle's there products . RNichols market is not catering to the Commercial/Retail side its market is the Law Enforcment and Government Contracts this were the money is made and selling to us is such a small market why even bother.I know it sucks but with the extra paper work and headaches to service such a limited sector I cannot blame them .

Oh come on. R Nichols is so busy with its LE contracts that it leaves $ on the table be cause it can not keep up? I suspect the reason is that they are too lazy to go the extra mile, meaning they will go extinct and be replaced by those more nimble.

Am I wrong?

As nice as it would for the ernthusiasts in Canada to have a resource(or group of resources) for this type of training in Canada, I think both of the guys above have lives and jobs that would make this type of training a part-time vocation. Throw in family, and with a full-time job, some times there isn't much time for the extra stuff.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a market in Canada to make this a full-time job....

I could be, and very much would like to be, wrong though.

Guys - I FULLY encourage those of you at SHOT to come up to our booth and gie your honest opinion of companies.

I will be at the KAC booth - wearing a KAC shirt and a badge that says
Kevin Boland
KAC Mil/Gov Product Liaison

If I have to work some evenings to make a Canadian Export compliant gun - I will.

The Mil/Gov side is still our bread and butter - the M110/Mk11 rifles, suppressors and night vision systems are what keeps the doors open. As more and more production capabilty is purchased more civilian offerings will me made available.

I am truly sorry on the training. TAA's in place for Mil and LE should allow that to go unfettered.

Rob and myself will see you on Thursday there buddy;)

I'm not sure if there is an expiry on it or not, but unfortunately R. Nicholls has managed to become an exclusive dealer for a lot of major companies. As much as I'd love to see them go under due to their business practices, it won't be happening any time soon.

I agree they keep saying the right things to the Manufacturers but then again those that manage to take away exclusives from RNichols soon loose them and the manufactures ask Nichols to become there exclusive dealer

I just finished the Larry Vickers CQB Instructors class with the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, great class, and those who can be accredited I highly recommend it.

Glad to hear it was as educational as the first one I was on. I guess Larry liked the toy box I sent?

Wicked is right, I still plan on going ahead with some training classes but it is not a full time endeavor. For those who are looking forward to training all I can say is be patient. It's better to have these things run correctly from the get go rather than be disorganized, leaving the student unsatisfied.

Another thing to keep in mind is our Canadian weather at this time of year.and the restrictions on the type of activities that can be conducted on indoor ranges.

Re: RNicholls, they treat their LE clients as poorly as the rest of us, you didn't think there was any commitment to service hidden in the back rooms did you?

In my experience, part of the problem when I dealt with them was the enormous "turn over" of employees. That said, it was very difficult to be able to deal with the same person time and time again. Also they are more geared to sell to dealers than individuals. Thats just the size and the nature of there operation. More often than not companies went with Nicholls as distributors since he has the resources and the company size.

Hold one in Victoria BC. Seriously, you'd get the lower mainland (Vancouver) crowd and you can pretty much hold them any time of year. It get's a little rainy this time a year but if you dress appropriately not a problem WE GET SNOW ABOUT ONE WEEK A YEAR, TOTAL:D.!!!!It's also semi arid in the summer so we get WAY less rain than Vancouver. Just a thought.....

I'm sure VFG would be more than willing to rent out the range they rent it out for every thing else.....good facility too.

Edit: Just to Rub it in some more...it's gods country out here!!!!!http://www.victoria-bc-canada-guide.com/victoria-bc-weather.html

Kevin, congrats for the job at KAC. Try to get them to make a 16in bbl, fixed stock version of the PDW! Pretty please?

The turn of events re. the course is too bad. I would have loved a class with Mr. V
