Training Interest?

Edmonton area.

Depending on the cost and what kind of experience/conditions this would require, it sounds like a great opportunity.

If this stuff would be even close to as good as Tactical Response was in GP, then Hell Yeah, I'd be there!

I would also like to suggest that if you want to do something like this at Wildwood then you ought to propose it at the monthly meeting (I think it's the third saturday of every month in the Wildwood comunity centre or something; I can get more info probably). I think that anything that would bring money in for the range would be well recieved, regardless of how un-PC it is.

When would this take place? How much money and ammo do I need to save up? Would you be interested in doing a combat shotgun class?

PS: I can't see how the CFO could tell anyone that they can't do something like this. Might the situation in Ontario have had something to do with non-Canadians teaching the course?

Only problem with Wildwood (Since TreeMugger ain't the VP no more) range is that the comitee is very clicky & does not thrive on out of town influences.

P&D tried to rent the range for a staff weekend gathering with offerings to the F&G club with gifts & charities and they just gave up when they went to the meeting of arguing these people.

What I'm trying to say is that it maybe a lot more complicated than we think.

I have done courses from Tactical Response and LMS Defence and would be willing to fork out for more if they were close.

Of course, price and course content is a factor, I am just saying that I have forked out cash in the past, and will in the future.

I'd be interested in an Alberta event as long as you don't yell at me :D

I know a few people I could bring along who would dearly love to take an actual carbine/pistol course with some odds/sods included.

Tagged for interest....

(Just as a wannabe....I'm not a real operator, all my guns are range or safe queens. This'd give me a chance to actually pull a trigger...)

Why does the CFO have to approve training? Does the CFO have to approve every event that goes on at a range in Ontario/Quebec?

The CFO approves every civilian range in Ontario and has very specific limits on what can be done on each range. They also issue the ATT's that shooters use to transport the firearms to and from the range and those ATT's spell out what they can be used for.

Each range at Barrie Gun Club is specifically approved by the CFO for very specific uses. You can't just do whatever you want on the range and be within those approved guidelines... and if you conduct an activity on the range that is NOT covered by the range approval then you risk the suspension of your operating approval (they shut you down).

My "personal" ATT allows me to transport my restricted firearms to and from the range for the purpose of "Target Shooting" both practice and competitions. It does NOT allow me to take those firearms to the range for a "course". Technically I need to get a ST ATT if I want to attend a course with my firearms (we ran into this when we were offering armorer courses in the BGC downstairs classroom). Same for instructors... to get the gun to the range and back the instructors will need an ATT (CFO does not consider the course instruction to be covered by their LT ATT either).

Maybe this has changed... make a call to CFO and ask them directly... I'm just telling you what we were told.

As it was explained to me :)))... the intent of the firearms legislation is to control the possession, use and movement of firearms. CFO believes it is their duty to help control/know who has them, what they do with them and when and where they are located or move them.

Of course it's a competition, if you're alive at the end you win.

Most of the pistol courses have a shoot off at the end, therfore it's a competition.

And if you're training by shooting at targets, then you are target shooting.
