Transfer times in BC

BC, x4 tries today, got in on the 4th after about 10 minutes. Fri Jul/22, 12:30 PM ish. 1 4 1.

Clock starts now. Will post when complete.

I can't get past the "sorry we're too busy to take your call" message so I can initiate a transfer, what are you guys doing to talk to a real person?

The only way is to give it your all. Calling every now and then won’t get you through unless it’s pure dumb luck. You have to commit to sitting there and hitting redial over and over. I start at 9am pacific which is 1:30 in Newfoundland, which means I’m competing with the whole country, and I’ve gotten through to both 1-6-1 and 9530 multiple times within 20 minutes of solid redialing each time now. Sometimes I’ve been hung up on after 40 minutes of being on hold mind you, but you can certainly get past the “we apologize” message if you put in the effort. To be fair, I’ve never gotten through to 1-4-2 but I’ve also never really put the effort in there either. I have successfully completed 5 transfers since this nonsense started and one of them was “sent to Ottawa for review” which took another call eventually to finish off.

So yes, it sucks, but you can either sit there patiently and wait for them to get to you or you can put on your man panties and take the bull by the horns. It can be done, as many in this thread and others can attest to.

Yep, put in time or wait, and complain on here. One may get things done. The other definitely will not.

In BC bought 2 guns one private and one from store last March 2022. Business sale took 3 days, private was 2 weeks and would have been longer, but I called CFO Office and lady did it over phone.just purchased a private deal took 35hours of sitting on phone to start transfer took another 6 hours to give them transfer code . That was last Monday 18 June, so as much as every one seems to think BC is super fast, guess it depends on what you are comparing it too.

Just got off the phone to ask about one from first week of July, she said they're still working on June 4 :O
They're trying to do them chronologically. Which is really how it should be in normal times. But when a buyer has multiple pending transfers, they should clear all of that buyers/sellers transfers off the plate at once, rather than opening the files, doing the checks and whatever else they do, for the same person, spread out over more time. That would in turn lower the number of phone calls they're getting.

I think if I get lucky with another breakthrough I'll suggest that to them and see if it's something they've looked at as an efficiency strategy.

What goes on behind the CFO closed doors?
In other words, what exactly does the CFO do / check / confirm / etc, once the seller and buyer have initiated the transfer process?

Do they make phone calls? Check records? Confirm buyers gun range membership with a phone call?

How much time is spent on each prospective buyer to clear the transfer? Minutes? Hours? Days?

Not that it matters as it is what it is. Just curious.

Next to nothing 99.99% of the time. It takes less than a minute. It's a bull#### make work process that could be automated. Their time would be better spent doing almost anything else.

Purchased June 10th, 11th, 17th and July 20th. Still waiting for transfers to go through on them all. I called on July 7th to check the status and was told they were only on June 3rd transfers that day and it would still be a couple of weeks for mine.

I too purchased from MarStar they sent me a reference number shortly after the sale was completed and said no action was necessary on my part I have heard nothing since from anyone that was near the end of june as its my first Ive no idea what to expect timeframe if they call or email you if I am to call them the website is weird that way. so hearing others only waited 7 days is disconcerting

Not knocking the people but typically government does not work that way. You follow the steps and do not concern yourself with efficiency. If you change the routine and some little thing happens you lose. as an employee.
See post 194

June 1 transfer ok'd July 17? on its way 19th arriving tomorrow, so the July 21 order will be end of August probably.

I've been waiting two months if that makes you feel better. ;)

Good to know. I have June 23rd and July 9th transfers I'm still waiting on, good to know that the June 23rd transfer will be done hopefully by the first week of August and the July 9th in mid-August. As I imagine the massive bulk of transfers is almost complete.
